As the title states, I want a custom exhaust setup for my 1995 240sx. Although I have considered exhaust setups like HKS Hi-Power and Apexi N1, I want straight pipe to a muffler and may delete a few things. I need some assistance. I need some that will give me power, but will give me a incredible deep roar for the car. I DO NOT want to sound like a honda for the love of god. I was thinking either straight pipe from the cat, or straight pipe from the header deleting the cat. Remember, I want sound mainly. My engine is a stock ka24de so I will be running 2.5 straight to the muffler. Unless you guys have other ideas, fill me in.

Bro i would go with an ebay knock off of an HKS high-power CAT-Back exhaust 2.5 or 3 in!

i would then order a $10 dollar test pipe to replace the cat that you dont have, and then a set of ebay headers!

all that should cost you $250 bucks and should really easy to install! but if you are looking at keeping your stock exhaust manifold then i would just do 'test pipe-to-catback" make sure the ehaust fanges match and you get your gaskets!

I thought about that but im not exactly sure of how all of that will sound. a few friends told me to keep the cat because it will help airflow. I got a quote from a muffler shop 2.5 straight pipe from header back w/ o a muffler.

i would go with 3'' because you know you would want to go turbo soon
u got me there man, ive been wanting to go KA-T since i got my car, but atm im just doing intro level stuff to my car i.e suspension, wheels, I/H/E. eventually i will. 2.5 wont hurt for a while. (Stance coils on the way :D)

The CAT will NOT Help with airflow...
Cause if thats the case why do EVO's on avg. pick up ~10whp just by putting in a Test-pipe...

Also I would go w/ a 3" weather your going KA-T or not. Look in the KA Upgrade Guide. It's got a post about Exhaust size and Power Gains.
The deep rumble depends on the Muffler. unreal- has a Magnaflow and it has almost the same deep/Subb rumble my Nur does.

Well i live in Miami, Fl so i can be loud as i want (sometimes...) i'm probably just going to delete the cat and have it straight from the header back to a muffler. i was thinking Aspec Blast pipes but again my friend said it really wouldn't matter much, but i NEED to have a muffler on the end

I'm probably going to go 3" from the header back, i just need to find a muffler

If you want it deep and loud just 3" straight pipe it all the way from the header. Then if you go turbo you wont have to worry about any custom work again later if you want it custom.

mine is 2.5" form the cat back with a larger body ti canister muffler and only two slight bends . The note was deep but raspy so I went to a muffler shop and told them to cut a hole and put a 2.25 J about 18" long and cap it off that got rid of the rasp and made it an even deeper note and sounds great. I've had so many complments by all sorts of people I've also been asked if I'm running a turbo and I'm not. And I noticed no change in power.

Is it just me, or Did any under stand what that guy did?
Edit this so I can read it, I depend on a few people on the internet to have consistently readable posts. Please recognise your responsibilities to the rest of us. :twocents:

But to answer what the one guy did... He added a length of pipe to his exhaust, that changed the resonant frequency of the pipe, thus eliminating the drone / resonance issues. My friend w/ a DIY exhaust and a BMW did it, and if you look under the car, its looks stupid as hell, in the bad way lol.

To OP -- 3'' to a simple magnaflow 2 chamber, or a knock off of one should get you where you want to be. If you have a drone, as a resonator / glass-pack first before doing the stupid trumpet change the length thing.

well im waiting for my tax return, its so agonizing lol. I have decided to go 3" from the header back. I am actually torn between getting a test pipe or not. Ive heard mixed emotions about it. i actually just want to add some sort of resonator to it
