Well I finally got a multimeter back from my friend and had a chance to test around and see why my fuel pump is whining so loud. With the car off the battery read 12.6 volts which is good. After I started the car up, the voltage stayed at a constant 12.6, meaning the alternator wasn't doing its job. After letting the car idle and blurping the throttle to 3k rpms the voltage jumped to 14.3 and stayed constant. For some reason my alternator can't regulate how much voltage to send out at certain times. After realizing I needed a new alternator I picked up a new fuel pump as well from my friend and ran to down the road to get a KA alternator. I got home and swapped the SR pulley over to the KA alternator. The guy I got it from had already drilled out the mounts so it would bolt up to the SR motor. I should be swapping the new alternator and fuel pump in this weekend when I get some time. Hopefully this will finally solve my mysterios fuel pump blowing phenomenom.

On a good note I installed my AEM FPR and gauge. Pictures later.

I recently stripped off all the black/white moulding sticker from around the body. I used a razor blade, goof off, and about 2 hours of time and they came off nicely with minor blemishes. These pictures are from before the removal, but when I clean her up and put the new nator in this weekend I'll snap some more. Also, got myself a new tow hook. Get excite!

Well I put a new alternator and fuel pump in today. The whining has finally seized to exist and I'm stoaked. I'm charging the battery while I'm at work then tonight I'll take her for a spin and see what happens. Fuel tank looks golden when I swapped the pumps out.

hopefully this one doesnt fuck up on you too.

I figured out it was my alternator that was killing fuel pumps. The voltage regulator must have been blown and I was sending crazy voltage to the pump, like +14v all the time. Hopefully with my new alternator this fuel pump should last me longer then the past three. I gotta give her a bath and get some pictures for sure though.

I had to modify a KA alternator by the way. Few things you should note if doing so.

-Connectors are the same WOOHOO
-Swap the pullys because the SR one is larger
-Drill out mounting hole so the SR pivot type mount will work
-File down the bracket so the alternator will fit

It took about 3 hours of frustration to figure out how to make the bracket fit, but its all good and dandy now.

Updates and pictures with my iPhone. Woohoo

Well today before work I started to troubleshoot my dying battery/alternator problem. My car kept dying after I changed the old alternator over so I got my multimeter out and started doing work. After putting a fully charged battery in my car with ~12.4 volts, I started my car and the voltage dropped to 11.7V and slowy decreased down to 10V. After seeing this I turned the car off. After the car was off the voltage at the battery started to raise back up to ~12V very slowy. I have no idea why, but it has to be wiring in the lower harness. Basically my alternator doesn't charge my battery and can't tell if its underload or not. I've replaced the battery, alternator, alternator fuse, and fuel pump fuse. I'm going to chop into my lower harness tonight and see if I can find some type of wiring malfunction. Ugh I hate it.

Anyway here are some pics from the KA alternator converted to SR. You have to drill out the top mounting/tensioner hole so it will fit a 3/8" bolt thru it.

Next, I swapped the pulley from the old SR alternator to the "new" KA one. You can see how much bigger the SR one is.

Here is a pic of my AEM FPR I put in a few weeks back thinking this was the problem. I was wrong but I got a cool engine bay because of it.

And a nice picture I took when I broke down because of my electrical problems.

I also went to Atlantic City this past weekend and lost alot of money again. I didn't lose my phone this time and was up for a little bit, but after getting back from the beach and a few whiskey gingers my stacks slowly but surely decreased. I also painted my tails again.

I also took my turbo, manifold, and intake off to clean stuff up and try and replace the broken exhaust manifold stud. I ended up not being able to get it out so I will have to take it to a machine shop, but I did have a chance to replace the turbo lock plates.

All out and about

The batard stud that I couldn't deal with and left it for the professionals at the machine shop

No shaft play at all, but the color was a little odd.

While I had it all apart I decided to clean the turbo up a bit with some meguirs.
