okay jared heres what you do

-replace youre steering rack or get it refurbed(i lucked out and got a "hicas" rack off craigslist for 40 bucks) like new might i add

-buy this urethane suspension kit(i have one and iam happy with it.)

-get this radiator(i have it and iam happy with it

throw some fans on them and eliminate youre clutch fan(it wont fit)

-and don't forget the intercooler piping(i had this set and i love the t-clamps,great quailty

and i got an ice box like this.. it is too tall (for the silvia bumper) but if you position it right it will work fine for the 240 setup.

i got reducers(3to 2.5) from autozone for the core ends. i didn't but this same one from cx. but if you price it you might save buying a complete kit. if not peacemeal is the way to go..

i see youre motorset didn't come with any ic piping(mine did with the useless oem unit). so youre prob going to need more piping. i messed up and got this finally

Intercooler piping kit Nissan Skyline GTST R32 R33 R34: eBay Motors (item 230477197124 end time Jun-18-10 18:22:51 PDT)

but if i were you i would go with this kit and save on hassle
R32 GTR SKYLINE RB20DET JDM TURBO INTERCOOLER + PIPING: eBay Motors (item 310223617133 end time Jun-29-10 02:30:18 PDT)

mind you the core is smaller. but if you want to save on the hassle go with that kit and the first 2.5 universal one and you should be good to go..

thank you jim!

-first off, whats a hicas rack? or where might i look for a new rack? this is the biggest thing for me because i dont understand steering racks that well. i was really hoping to get the motor in in a couple weeks and unfortunately a new rack wasnt in the budget. whats all involved in gettin it refurbished? that might be my cheapest/best route.

-I'll definitely look into that bushing set. anything other than those bushings that i might need? any special comments on them?

-the fmic im gettin off a buddy. it'll do me just fine for now. its a skyline fmic so it should cool well for some track use. same with the piping, same friend, im getting his old stuff off his rb

-im gonna go with the mishimoto rad. now one question: i heard the r32 rads were too tall and didnt fit? so i was told i should go with the s13 rad. which is it? or will both work

im a little confused as to which intercooler/piping youre suggesting though lol. the last kit, IC and pipes for 160 looks really good. will the IC be good for some abuse til i can get a new one for 300rwhp? also, on that kit will the pipes fit? sorry for all the questions

preciate the referral man. Nice stuff so far. I wish I could answer that question about the steering rack but I dont know much about that either.

if it came like that, its not suppose to be cut and extended like that. unless the previous owner of the car did a swap that he needed to extend the loop line.
those shit will fly everywhere wen u slidin. just get a p/s cooler. some cheap cooler like $35 at napa or $40+ if you get it online with a built in bracket. some p/s hose and fittings.

no need for a pic man. its in ur car and u shud know it if you look at the pics u posted.

tired is not an excuse. ur doin a swap, u cant be sayin u tired.

the crossmember it has a hard line that loops around it for P/S. now its not supposed to be cut and extended with a hose. those will fly wen u are driftin.

alright guys, i got a question:

the AIV system in the car. i want to remove it if its possible but what exactly is it used for? i get that its emission based but does it control anything else or can it just be simply taken out?

doing the swap...its in the works. but seriously man its called learning as you go, if your not gonna help out in any way since your obviously "oh so knowledgeable" then dont bother posting in here

lol jim, yes, i have the engine. i got it when i made the post with the pics lol. its goin in as soon as i buy some bushings for the steering rack and swaybar, then i need to paint the bay. after all that, motor will be in

alright so i promised a small update, here it is. like i said nothing exciting. i started cleaning up the bay a bit, got rid of all the emissions crap, moved the PS pump out of the way for now, also the top half of the washer fluid reservoir (probably going to get something different for it and the coolant res.) gonna do a bunch of work tomorrow on cleaning some stuff up so we'll see how that goes. anyways, pic!

mmmm getting cleaner

alright, so did some playing around with the car today. took off the bumper and fenders to access all the wiring and stuff to see what i can and cant get rid of. this part of the harness will have all the wires for cruise, emissions, ac etc. gone. i also finished removing the hose for the rear wiper, so now i've just gotta plug the reservoir or make a new res, or just remove it completely (i wont be needing it, if windows get dirty i'll wash them at home before i leave, and in rain i'll still have wipers. thoughts?). anyways, no bumpers/fenders:

and this is where i plan on moving the drivers side of the engine bay harness to be out of the way of the tire when i lower the car:

i just need to cut the rubber grommet so i can feed a little bit of the wiring back through and fit it nicely, then test fit the fender and make sure it all works. the few wires on the pass. side will be ran through the frame.

other than that i was hoping to get to working on the interior, but on account of rain, i can not. if it gets a bit nice i might go clean it and get it ready for some paint but we'll have to see. also, does anyone know how to remove the hood cable from the latch? i want to route it through the frame on the drivers side but i cant figure it out
