Lowering springs on KYB GR2?

I've been wanting to lower this thing for a whille now.
I've searched around here/google for some info on what kind of springs I would need, but I'm still a little confused.

I know if you want to get lowering springs, you'll need shocks, but the previous owner of mine seems to have gotten KYB GR-2s all around. Only problem is, though, that they have my car sitting High!

So what I need to know..
What kind of lowering springs can I get that will go well with the shocks I already have?
I was thinking something like a 2 inch drop would be really nice, what do you guys think?

2 inch gonna blow gr2's. kyb gr-2's are used as replacement shocks weren't designed to be lowered on. atleast grab yourself a set of kyb agx but still not ideal to drop 2" on them maybe 1.8" and 1.5" is safe for sure. agx can be had for around 300

well, being a student, I'm on a pretty tight budget right now, so I was just looking for whatever springs that would go with the shocks I've got already.

so I'd be good to go if I got something with -1.8" then?

-I have no clue how old these shocks are, though, but they seem to be fairly new, if that makes a difference..

thanks for the help

btw, what exactly does it mean to 'blow' the shocks?

also... for my KYB GR-2s, can I just get any lowering springs that are supposed to fit the 91 240sx or do I have to look for something more specific?

:yummywanna see it low already :p

i had gr-2 shocks on my old 240, i paired them up with eibach pro-kit springs... they were not crazy low but good enought to get rid of the mostertruck look lol. when the shocks blow its when the seal holding the shock oil in under pressure leaks/breaks causing loss of pressure in the shock and your shock have just become worthless. with the pro-kit the shocks lasted well over 40k miles

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you can merge coilovers with struts.. the strut is just one part while a coilover is the shock and strut all together, but not to be confused with a shock and strut combo...

So which are better kyb gr2 with tein s-tech lowering kit, or eibach pro kit? my 240 is a daily driver
I'd personally get eibach sportline springs over either of those above..

I have s-techs and they sit taller in front than back..
and pro-kit won't be much lower than stock..

2 inch drop on gr2's should be fine.. I've seen it done and they didn't blow..

Wow can we stop bring back threads 2yrs old. For the GR-2's aren't made for anything but Stock. Lowering Springs lower the car and increase spring rate. Both of which WILL contribute to premature wear on the GR-2's. AGX also aren't made fro Lowering springs and KYB states it on there site. But they seem to be a good and very common strut pair with S.Techs. Tokico Vlues IIRC was made for mild drop springs of up to 1.5". Koni Yellows are made for aftermarket springs as well as Tokico D-Spec's/HTS'. Were gonna leave it at that.
