IDK if any of you have read my Update in my ST Build thread or around the forums in other threads but I've decided that the KA-T bug has gotten the better of me. Purpose of the build: To show the kiddies here what boost really is. Stock Pressures ain't shit. And just cause you have a FMIC your not fast lol. SO..... I'm not lookin to go out there an just Demolish everyone just something to show all the kiddies that BPU isn't fast lol.
With that said this build will probably be making around 350ish whp Trq. I'm hoping for the same numbers. Boost will be coming on pretty quick, no one likes lag, right?!?!?!
Here's what I have planned.
GT2871R (P# 771847-1)
- Uses GT28R Style Compressor Housing i.e. Stock S14/S15 Bolt patterns
- 52 Trim (I wanted the 48 Trim but they don't make them w/ the GT28R housing
)
- .64 A/R Turbine: Fast spooling baby, may upgrade to the .86 A/R later
- Will use S14/S15 Turbo Inlet and Outlet allowing me to use alot of SR/KA-T compatible parts.
On the S14/S15 Turbo Inlet it already has a Fitting for the PCV. So I will be running a Saikou Michi Stage 2 Oil Catch Can to keep the system Free of any Oil and Crap that may work it's way through the VC Vent.
Taking care of the Exhaust side will be be taken care of using a SSAC manifold because it has Larger runners (48mm compared to 38mm most use) which we all know the KA loves to breathe and there flanges are slightly thicker then most. If it cracks then I may go w/ the ISIS v2, not too sure yet. Down-pipe I was lookin at the PBM Piece, It's hawt IDK what else to say, they even made a Custom DP with a 2" ext. in it which KA-T's are common amongst needing the DP being ext. (bmoses on the forums can vouch for this) It has the Turbine/WG Divider built-in and they can install Wideband o2 bungs for another $20 anywhere. To kind of keep the noise down I'm gonna replace my MR 3" Test-Pipe w/ an ISIS 3" Resonated piece.
The Oil and Coolant lines will be Custom made using Fragola Fittings & Adapters. -3 AN will be the Oil feed size and -6 AN will be the Drain size. Coolant will be fed through 5/16" Hoses that originally go to the TB but that will be bypassed and used for the turbo Coolant lines. I'll be using -4 AN fittings at the Turbo which is ~1/4" so it'll fit. If not nothing worm clamps can't fix
For the Intake and IC solution I'm again looking at PBM pieces. PBM has a Intake Kit that is fairly cheap and pretty much straight forward. I'll be using a N60 MAF which to my understanding uses the same foot pattern as the G70 Stock MAF's so I'm gonna use a JWT Pop Charger kit which the MAF adapter is Bell Mouth like a Velocity Stack, who doesn't like more effeciency? lol. For the IC solution I'm also using the PBM HMIC (High Mount InterCooler) for 2 reasons. Sleeper Status and Short piping = Faster Spool
Only draw back, my A/C has to go
But hopefully I can find a solution using a smaller condenser and make my own lines. I'm going to have to ask PBM to Mix & Match there HMIC kit because I believe I'm going to need an S14 Charge Pipe and a S13 Cold Pipe due to the TB position. I'm also gonna ask them to provide a port for me to use a EVO IX BOV, most likely on the Cold pipe. Another thing I also like about the HMIC set-up is that the Batt. won't have to be relocated
Fuel system's fairly simple. CS 255lph Pump, Nismo FPR, Suub 550cc Side Feed Injector's, and a Z32 Fuel Filter. 550cc Inj can feed upto 365+whp so I'm in good standing's there. Management I want to go w/ a AEM EMS so I can shift MAPs on the Fly but I'm not to sure if I really need it. It would be nice to have. And IDK how well the S14 OBD-1 Nistune will hold up to boost apps as 4x4 informed me that they often have complications with it. For N/A apps he said the Type-4 is fine but for boosted apps he Rec. using an S13 Nistune ECU. So I'm kinda leaning towards the AEM but who knows, still up in the air. Gonna use an LC-1 Wideband and AEM Tru-Boost as my Gauges. It'll sit in an AIT ez-Pod
Last but not least the Drivetrain. Again here is fairly simple. SouthBend Stage 3 Clutch (good to 375lb ft Trq.) Z1 Performance 14lbs Flywheel just to keep a bit of inertia in the rotating system. Nismo Needle Pilot Bearing will be used, little more efficient and cost effective compared to a Bronze Bushing IMO. And lastly a 1pc Steel D/S to get rid of that nasty 2pc POS we have hanging under there.
Other little things will be thrown in here in there Like NST Pulley set and stuff but for the most part that's the bulk of the KA-T build. Should be fun when I'm done. Hope you guys enjoy the build as much as I do. I'll start buying little stuff here in there as soon as I get my susp. pieces in just so I can have fun at SCCA for the time being
PEACE!
