Well, im looking to buy a Nissan 240sx from around 89-93 and I wanted to know if anybody could point me to where I could import one from japan that is already manual and right side drive, I dont want to risk hard earned money on possible scam sites, etc. your help on this is much appreciated, getting the car and getting it in perfect maintence is my first priority.

Not necessarily, you would just have to get used to driving on the rightside, the idea was just to get one that is already right hand drive, I want to get a genuine import if im going to build a import otherwise id just pick up an 85 camaro and build that. I just like the way imports look which is why im thinking of going to such an extent.

By any chance have you been living under a rock the last month.

ALL and i mean ALL EXPORT from japan is HALTED untill they fix half the country

Holy shit, I diddnt know exporting was halted, well that puts a bit of a dent in my plan, either way, in your opinions if I wanted to go rightside drive would i be better off just buying a 240sx stateside and converting it? If so can someone link me to a site/reference I could use for the conversion?

converting it. but talk to people have had a rhd first. seems almost all of them get tired of it real quick. and even if you adjust chances are you will never has as much control. if you plan on drifting only do what you want but if you plan to dd it then keep in mind drive thrus. banks or food. is it worth the money to you? especialy if you're just gonna drift/wreck it anyways? if it is a drift only car then buy a salvaged/wrecked one.

Well, ive decided im just going to buy a car off craigslist/local (Nisan 240sx of course) and just start building it, the draw backs to right side drive are pretty heavy and it seems stupid to do that when we drive on the right side of the road out here, when i finally get a car ill let you guys know.

dont build the car up too far if you cant drift, it will end up crashed...eventually

Well what im going to do to learn is I know a place where I can drift (private property owned by a friend) and im going to go out there, set up cones, and practice on the cones, that way I cant wreck the car, im going to focus on building this car and when I feel the car may be at risk I may build a junker car with upgraded suspension, etc. just to get the feel down, I wont have my actual license for another 6 months so im not worried about even getting to the drifting point for awhile. I do work ALOT and save my money, which is how im going to fund this project, plus I have a family member who is very good at working with/on and building cars, and he is going to assist in the project. The only thing im really worried about is the insurance. If anybody has details about the s13 pickup conversion ive seen a few times, id appreciate a link, otherwise ill keep you all updated, thanks for the help so far.

Im just sayin u might wanna learn to dive straight b4 u go sideways
Ive been driving consistantly for about 4 years in cemetaries, etc. and I just finished seg 1 of drivers training and did exceptionally well, I can drive straight, I can drive a stick, and yes i know how to drive safely, I new I shouldnt have mentioned that on here, now im assured to have to deal with the flaming bull shit.

haha driving through cemeteries? drifting is easy man. just watch a lot of videos online and try and imitate your favorite driver's timing with everything. practice practice practice and keep it on the track, unless you think you got it, but my friend recently drove his car into a fence trying to drift on the streets so....

don't listen to this guy :fonix:

i raced cars for 4 years in local and not so local circle tracks with on avg 20 cars in an 1/4mile oval. 13 wins out of about 100 races. i'll be the first to tell you that your driving is shit and you're a) gonna wreck your first car on the road and b) you don't have the money to afford drifting. nor should you be concerned with conversions and other expenses. i suggest you buy a good running honda and drive for a while and have fun with it. WHEN you wreck it buy a 240 that's in good condition. you don't need a project car unless you have a good daily driver already.
