Finally, after 8 years of procrastination I begin my build thread.
Sometime in the summer of 2002 I found this gem on Autotrader and was lucky enough to be the first caller on it. I think I found it the day it was posted because later the owner spoke of how many calls he was getting on it.
This car was a base model with Air/PW/Cruise added. This was perfect. It had 19K miles on it and had been driven by an older lady for the last two years. It was their son's car and he had initially had plans for it, but evidently he scrapped those plans and had his parents sell the car.
They were asking $11.5K for the car, steep yes, but I didn't care, I wanted it. There wasn't much room for barter or bargaining. While the owners didn't quite know what they had, they did know that it had very low miles and was basically still near-perfect condition, thus pulling the premium price. I felt I was getting a practically new car. I made the offer of $11K and they accepted over the phone. With check-in-hand and a call to a friend (Ben Davis) we were off to pick up my new car.
The car was about 600 miles away in VA and we were in near Indianapolis. Ben Davis and I mad the trek in one day, leaving late morning, (If I remember right) and returning by dawn the next day. I'm eternally grateful to him for doing this favor for me.
In this build thread I will plan on adding a section every couple of days/weeks and so forth. I have far less documented images than what I've actually done to the car, but I'll post what I have.
And, as always. Thank you for looking. (Please disregard any date stamps you see too.)
Here are the pics of the car from Day One.
My Sentra Beater/Daily with my FWD SR20DET swap is in the background. This poor car endured daily beatings by me for 6+ years until I finally parted it out and put the SR in a G20 I picked up for $300. You are looking at my Sentra in it's last days of service.
These are my cars consuming Ben Davis's garage space.
