I just bought a 89 240sx she ran great for a week then I had a head gasket leak so I replaced it and. So I took care of that so but before we replaced it I was comeing home from school and I dropped of a friend and when I pulled up in the drive way it sounded like I was about to run out of gas sound and then it died when I stopped in the drive way so I tried to start again and it did and it made the sound again so I gave it gas and kept it at 3 thousand rpms and I thought it'll be ok so I let my foot off the gas and it died and I tried to start it again and it didn't so I pushed it home and it spins like it wants to turn over but it dosnt so we changed the spark plugs the altinator and cleaned the fuel injectors new battery and we tried jumping and everything so I'm running out of things to try and I need my baby running so I can get back and forth to work and school cause I'm walking for now and by the way I'm new and so far I love the site and glad to be a part of the 240 fMily

Sorry I don't understand your post. Would help if you separate it into paragraphs and re-read it before posting. Don't mean to offend.

The problem happened before replacing the head gasket or after?

If it's before then the head is just gone, water is getting in and your getting almost no compression.

If it was after, make sure you connected everything in the correct position and that every plug is in. A loose plug can make the ecu go crazy and advance or retard timing more than it's supposed to due to abnormal voltages. Also make sure the distributor is right in the middle. I don't know how to explain it correctly but there's like a semi-circle above the distributor it's supposed to be right in the middle if it's not then the timing is retarded or advanced depending on where is leaning to (I'm using a mental pic right now could be a little wrong).

Check you coolant level if it's missing water then there's a leak due to the gasket or something mis-aligned. Haven't work on the 240sx head but I know that on motorcycles and Fords and it's supposed to be the same way on 90% of engines, if you don't aligned the head correctly the coolant passages won't aligned and water will leak. This is strange but can happen and I have seen it happen.

No your cool I'm trying to type all this from my phone
I replaced the head gasket seal after my car went down cause we thought the water in the oil was stopping it from turning over so we replaced it
And we mad sure everything was connected right and we made sure the head gasket was on good we are just confused

Lol. Replace it there cheap. I've never known our filters to be "Cleanable" IDC how much brakeclean you run through it or what ever. Replace it. How about the injectors. Can you verify there getting a signal?
