Shift locking is just about the worse thing you could do.... Unless your looking for a easy way to drop your trans without tools.
Like word said Clutch Kicking and Hand Braking.
I personally like clutch Kicking cause I like a more aggressive style while others preffer smooth. I like to throw my car around like I'm driving a 86 or something lmao. But its my tire setup that allows me to. I normally run 225 or 235's out back and the only way your really gonna get them to spin with a stock motor is to be an ass and give it all you got. I can hold longer drifts with 205's but its just not as fun cause I have to me much more gentle with how I flick the car around.
I normally clutch kick to initiate and Hand brake to trim or extend my slide (altering my line)
I'm by no means an expert but I can get it side ways and keep it there.
an inertia (spelling i know) drift is probly the easyest IMO. you basicly use the weight of the car to start a drift as you gas hard, ie; you steer left, then right, you then steer left again but as you do this you punch the gas. you can even do the clutch kick with this techinque. i used this method all the time with my built 88 supra on the jacksonville roads in oregon
you can feint then clutch kick or feint and then hand brake but a feint by itself won't do much especially once you get a proper suspension setup
I was using a new technique that worked pretty well for super early entries, I initiated the feint with a clutch kick. using this technique requires balls of steel and allot of speed
Yep that's what I do. I LOVE doing super early entries and just holding the angle. Don't get me wrong I still pull out sometimes cause I'm not used to the speeds but when I do hold it's fun as shit. I just like being super aggressive.
And I can't for the love of me remember his name.
Japan Driver. Yellow RX7 FC, Huge Rear Wing, Blue Graphics. Don't remember his name but his entries are AMAZING and I hope to even come close to being half as aggressive as him.
I hate that I can't remember his name and post a vid to show. Maybe word or someone else knows.
Yes! Dude his entries make even some Hachi's look like there being gentle. I love watching him flick that thing like a rag doll.
Which is the main reason for my tire set-up, so I can get stupid aggressive without the ass end coming out too muc or too fast or having more slide then forward grip when I need it. So far my clutch has taken about 2-3 yrs of kicking abuse using 235's which IMO is good for a stage 1 clutch (Centerforce).
Thanks everyone for the tips it just started raining and I have no time during the week because of school. But hopefully it will be dry next weekend after work.
Alright good to know... Thank you. Does anyone else find it hard to use the heel toe technique in a hatchback 240sx? There isn't enough space for my foot.
It's an advanced one. Until you know how to shift the weight of the car correctly you won't pull it off. Stick to the basics and work your way up. Jumping to advanced shit only ends in crashes over 90% of the time.
Alright so I finally got the chance to go practice some "drifting" clutch kicking is a lot easier then hand brake. And I also tried doing 180 hand brake turns and I was almost able to get completely around but I was off a few degrees. I tried different speeds in second gear. Do you keep the hand brake engaged throughout the spin or just when your turning. I only did this for like 10 minutes. I am afraid of burning my tires. I am trying to save for new wheels but I cant afford buying tires all the time.
