So I changed my clutch these last 2 days and noticed my trans mount (OEM) is basically a crumbled piece of rubber now and I need a new one. My motor mounts aren't that great either and the engine shakes like crazy, especially on startup. My main question is: How good are these mounts here:

Yes, I KNOW the car will be shaking like a porn stars vibrator, and I am OK with that, seeing as this is a project car, with no interior, and in the future will be drifting it anyways.....I am just worried about 2 things:

1. Are they good enough quality? Solid Delrin with an aluminum bushing seems alright to me, but would like other opinions.

2, I have a few small (quarter size) rust spots on my frame, right near the wheel well. Will this much vibration transferred to the chassis make my frame weaker because of the rust spots?

I do have a welder and plan on welding some 1/4" plates over the rust spots eventually, but when I get time.

so in a nutshell, are those delrin mounts OK to use on a 22 year old car???

Sorry for the long post :)

I've heard mixed opinions. Some say they vibrate too much while others say that it's not that bad. I bought them but I haven't used them yet. As for your frame, if vibration makes your frame weaker then your car isn't safe to drive anyways.

The key is to match your engine and tranny mounts. If you use Delrin engine mounts, then delrin tranny mount is the way to go. I personally would recommend Circuit Sports engine/tranny mount for just a hair more, but that's just me.- urethane IIRC.

Whatever you get, change them all out at the same time. If your engine mounts are stock and your tranny mount is not, the greater freedom of movement of the eingine will tear your upgraded tranny mount <experience lol!

Right now, I use Nismo mounts & Circuit Sports tranny mount... It's a good combo, but I am seriously contemplating Circuit Sports mounts as they drop the engine in the engine bay a bit, and I had clearance issues with my CF hood last time around..

thanks for the responses, I'll look into the circuit sports mounts and see what happens.

Any more thoughts from anyone out there??

CS are solid due to s Straight bolt through a Urethane cylinder pretty much making it solid.

Welding a plate over the rust spots will do nothing. The rust will just continue to spread until its large enough the plat falls off. You need to cut it out and replace it with new metal. Not patch over.

Well I will worry about the rust at another point in time, lets focus on the mounts! Ill try to get some 1/4" steel from a friend of mine.

The best mounts, personally, are these bad boys right here:

CA Brand New set of Drift Freaq KA/SR/CA Engine mounts - Zilvia.net Forums | Nissan 240SX (Silvia) and Z (Fairlady) Car Forum

These mounts are adjustable for engine height (if you remember i showed you mine, they are non engine height adjustable) and are polyurethane. Unlike the eBay poly mounts, the studs go straight through which causes these erratic shakes at idle. Get these mounts. I promise you that you will love them. These mount studs do NOT go straight through. The urethane is on the outer part and in the middle is metal combined with the urethane, im pretty sure.

If you want to know how these mounts are, come out to the car meet tomorrow night and you'll feel how these are in my car at idle. If you have questions, ask the home-made mount guy, drift freaq, on his mounts. I freakin love his mounts.

As for a tranny mount, I have a regular OEM one in and is still working good.

P.S.: my engine barely moves now under load. It moves maybe 3 inches (more power transfer to the wheelies :] )

how many pucks would it take on each side to get the correct height? arent they about 1" thick each?
