I finally got my first 240sx today. It already had a bit done with it, but not much at all. There's not too much wrong with it either, but it's whatever. I didn't care if it had problems or not, just more learning experience in my eyes. But the only things that are wrong with it, that I can remember right off the top of my head, is: Small leak in the test pipe, speedometer doesn't work, no A/C, and several small problems with the body. I'll start posting my progress quite often once I figure out what I should start working on and such. I have this guy that's going to be helping me with all of this stuff.

Under the hood (sorry about the blur, I'll take another pic soon):

I'll post pictures of the interior and close-ups of the problems it has at the moment a bit later.

From what I know, he has some unknown control arms on it. He said what I needed to work on was more of suspension for it to be a fully solid car. And it cost a total of $3,200. It was far better than the $7,500 that I was looking at prior to it.

IMO... seeming how you have a nice starting engine. get it all running...or what ever needs to be done. Get your susp. and 5 lug convers. And other than that, looks nice and prety good price for SR. not bad.

Tomorrow I'm going to head to Autozone (I think that's the store name around my area) and pick up some new spark plugs, oil filter, fuel filter, some oil, and possibly a fiberglass bondo repair kit. I think that's what I should get for fixing the split that's in the front left part of my 240. I also read something about using zip-ties as stitching, but that's not so appealing. If it's needed for the temp. fix, I'll do it, but I'm going to try and avoid it.

But anyway, you guys know if that bondo stuff will work? I just need a temporary fix until I'm able to get enough money to take it to the body shop.

EDIT: I forgot to add that I'm going to be picking up some brake fluid to bleed the clutch as well. I'd also like to mention that I know absolutely nothing about cars really yet, well, I lied. I do know a bit because I've been reading non-stop about this stuff for the past month or so, but I don't have experience. Soon that'll change! Such a great feeling!

...us that fiber glass repair to get the pieces together and slap bondo on the top and sand the shit out of it until its smooth. Also, if you ever get it painted or what not Maaco did my car for damn cheap. it looks great and they did a pretty good job on the bumper as restoration goes.

That's good to know. I don't live in the greatest place for this type of stuff though; Kansas City, Missouri.

It sucks, I know. Maybe we have a Maaco here though or something close. I DO NOT want to take my car to a shop of any kind unless I know the people have a good reputation. Either that or I'm gonna have to watch whoever work on my ride. lol

Anyway, I got a couple questions: Bushings kit... Anyone recommend a good one? And coilovers... I see them being sold for like $600, but is it $600 for one or a whole set? I can't seem to find that information out. I was looking at these: http://www.240sxupgrades.com/product_info.php?products_id=245268{ship_18}73

ok...this is exactly what im doing. Search functionnform coilovers. They are $750 full set. Then your going to need to get traction rods, toe rods, and others after a little bit of driving with the coils at about 1" lower then what you have stock. Then your gunna want to replace the traction etc. Here: search ISIS link package. Its good for the first set up.

Maaco does not have the best rep. but all i can say is that im extremely happy with what they did to my car.

This forum is really good to learn stuff from. I sure have learn A LOT! Im doing my first 240 build and pretty much just take it slow and prioritize EVERYTHING! If you go too fast your'll get overwhelmed...its happened to me. Well...its still happening.

See your in good shape. I bought the car with a messed up KA for 700 bucks. I had to repair that for about 500. Then i had to do all the normal main. shit and get everything up and going. radio system everything. Once i get my coilovers in a week. Ima be saving for a Ka-t project. My biggest advise is to read up on things...upgrade according to what you want to do.

oh and little way to save money. tell them little spacific things you want done because if you say paint the whole car they will charge more. if you say paint this, and this, take this scratch out here yada yada...they will end up spraying the whole car. trust me. I got ALOT of front bumper work done, 3 scratches, rear bumper, spoiler hold filled and painted, and hood, they end spraying the whole car to blend correctly....$830

Well, she won't start now. I made a thread in the beginner section if you guys are interested as to why. Hopefully I can fix the problem today. But I did get some gorilla glue and a C-clamp to temp. fix the split in the fender.

Fixed her last night. The clip that slides onto the prong to the right of the starter wasn't slid on; just dangling. Since I learned that bit of stuff yesterday, I don't think I'll be needing an alarm. *coolface*

I bought the same kit only in black and it does wonders to an old chassis to make it feel like a go-kart . Just plan on lots of time to burn out the old rubber bushings , isn`t a 1 day job unless you got a lot of friends helping .
