Ok so i got a 89 240sx hatch SE. i traded a 87 supra n/a 5spd for it.
it pretty rough but thats why its a build! This pic is after the motor is out i just put the hood back on for the camera.
Sorry for the quality old digital cam. Anyways this is the day i got it about an hour into it. With the help of a skilled friend we pulled the motor after starting it, found out there was a horrible main and rod knock.
again sorry for some of the pictures be different sizes. this is after when hearing the rod knock. we pulled everything off that was in the way, just about to be pulled.
ok holy crap that is huge...no not the motor! well this is just before we pull the whole shabang tranny and all. Note the shiney new water pump!
sigh... caught us red handed stealing your blown motor.
finally out! now to find that pesky culprit that makes that horrible knocking sound!
AH HA! found you! wow thats a pretty worn out bearing if i do say so myself!
I think this is also not worth reusing! Got a spare rod froma buddy!
And last but not least the heap of scrap metal that was once called the crank shaft! See how foggy the number three rod journal looks, and how the middle main journal is black? I have this idea in my head that this crank would cost more to fix then to just get a reman.
Lookie what else im glad that i checked for! Well maby not checked but more like..."OH SNAP!" took the cover off and seen that the timing chain guide was MIA. Later after getting the pan off I found the remains of the guide .. guess i found out why all the bearings where effed up though...
they all are pretty damn bad. Amasing the previous owner DROVE it like that and it didnt fail him. KA FTMFW! Just goes to show you how tough the KA really is! after seeing this I am sticking with the KA till the very end!
got the block back from the hot tanker the same day! I thinkin' smokin' hot red baby!
ok I tried to polish the new front cover that was given to me by my buddy! stuck it on there for the camera! oh yeah and cleaned up the grimey brackets.
Man i fail at posting pics... bear with me and tilt your head 90 degrees! OW!
SO looking in to the body sum more found out that there was some damage to the front bumper and rightside fender so i took them off to fix!
ok heres the damage report! Ill let the picture do the talking on this one!
Amazing what a pair of pliers can do... This made a huge difference after all was said and done!
Good time to paint these! Looks sick to me!
Ok since the bumper was off i cut out the nostrils to make them functional! Also the Intake thing that is by driver tire i am going to make into an air scoop by cutting out the front side just for shits and gigs!
well on to my in car mods if you wanna cal them that!
Oh yeah almost forgot to mention the DUAL E FAN! Its a maxima fan that i cut to fit prefectly. shaved alittle at a time till it slipped in and looked good. I just want to get the connectors that fit into it to make it look stock at first glance. Im thinking of wiring it to my toggle switch inside the center console compartment. what chu think?
Anyways thats all i have done in just the last few weeks with only spending about 25bucks! I have no current employer but got a job lined up at a retirement home ill see today at one. IF im lucky ill get this job and finish the motor within two weeks max. Im sure to do something for some progress in between!
After i get the motor done my next paycheck will be for a suspension overhall, all energy bushings, then some lowering springs unless i can find some HELLA cheep coils. I want to set this up for handling as i like to road race. I live where roads are long , hilly, and curvy, you may have seen the terrain in the back ground. So drifting would be difficult here.
so any feedback to help me out, or just some advice on something, or if you see something wrong let me know! im open to criticism!:feedback::beer2:cheers!
