So I've got a broken spring in the front driver's side. I've been debating about the best way to deal with this. The shock itself seems to be fine, just the spring is broken where it sits on the perch. I don't have the balls to use a spring compressor myself to take it off and put a new one on, and am thinking of possibly going the coil over route simply to avoid having to deal with the spring.

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what kind of coil overs I should get, as I'm not looking to lower it any more than maybe 1/2" at most (I drive this thing all year 'round, and in winter I think I would beach it on the ruts in the road if I lower it much). There isn't a track within 500KM that I would be able to drive my car on either, so this would be a pure road car, so I wouldn't want something that would turn my car into a spine crusher either ... From what I've read, it sounds like the closest to what I'm looking for would be the Megan Streets, but I'm wondering if anyone else with any experience (I've literally never looked into or done anything suspension wise before) has any suggestions or ideas. I've thought about maybe just buying new OEM springs, but at the same time, lowering it even just a little would be a nice thought too. So I'm kind of torn between keeping it OEM or trying to find a coil over setup to lower it just a bit and still keep the ride on the comfortable side.

The other thing I have no idea about - would I need to do anything in terms of the rear upper control arms or anything to deal with any potential alignment issues, or is 1/2" lower not really going to be something the stock components will be able to compensate for?

Sorry, I know suspension threads are everywhere (I did a search and was overwhelmed with the amount of information out there, sadly the vast majority of it pertains to a track setup rather than a street/DD setup).

You'll be fine going a little lower. I'd honestly suggest making the jump to coils as soon as possible. You'll change your mind a few times about what wheels you want, what skirts and bumpers you want, if you want to tuck or poke... and it's a pain going through springs over and over when you can just dial coilovers higher or lower...

For you, ISIS or Circuit Sport coils will do you just fine.
If your only lowering 1/2" you shouldn't need any arms.
They're normally good with adjustment till 1" or more of lowering.
