then we did a small comp.. did a quick top 8 tandem event, unfortunately i snapped a inner tie rod again and lost out after doing a one more time :(

oh well i fixed it and drove the car home so no worries... apparently this tie rod issue is going to be a problem.. so im looking into a solution to my issue ... i already purchased a set of s14 control arms, extra set of s13 spindles, new s13 ball joints and am sending them off to a buddy of mine to have them modded for more angle .. hopefully this combined with notching my frame should help on my front end binding up so much

Sweet build. This car is awsome. Could you post some pics of what you are doing inside the car as well? Roll cage etc.

Inside of the car is SUPER basic currently, this will change soon but for now it's about as much of a street car as you can get.

Inside:
F1 spec bucket
pass side seat is a skyline seat
Nrg slim hub and quick release
Dino white wheel
Ebay short shifter
Blocx's 490 shifter in gunmetal
stock seat belt (for now)
rear seats eliminated

But this is all changing very soon, i'm in the process of acquiring the parts to build a hydro, having a full cage done and running Crow harness's

So i've been having this inner tie rod snapping issue at full lock with my car, and i wasnt sure what the issue was ... well after a little checking and part replacing if finally fixed the problem, i had a WAY more bent passenger side control arm then i thought plus the bushings were shot. So i replaced that one with a newer one with a new ball joint, had it realigned with a cpl changes in my alignment

front:
camber 1.5
toe 0.0
caster 7.4
rear:
camber 1.5
toe 0.0

Then went and drove the piss out of it at Nashville super speed way and after a day of beating on it .. no broken inner tie rod on the passenger side ... i did bend the drivers one BUT that was from a dirt drop NOT anything related with the other issue lol and my power steering went out BEFORE the event started... so i drove all day HE-MAN style .. and it sucked lol

threw up some pictures my GF took from the event... basically a run through the course

keep the illest sticker it defines your hard and patient work. My suggestion if I may, keep the hood black with the heart on in it looks good like that. Cut the nostrils out of the pignose and come work on my car WITH me lol I'll buy the beers.

cheers man not many people can appreciate the hardships that go along with a build like that and life that went along with it. good thing it didn't sell

illest work ... period

THERE YOU ARE. didn't know your .l. was this updated. So can you go into detail about your spark plug setup?? like how you did it and what did you use??

been a while since ive updated this thread with some pictures and what not..

Not alot has changed with the car honestly, at the last event i drove at my power steering acted up and stopped working at the beginning of the event. So i drove the event and then limped the car home and purchased a new PS pump and proceeded to mod it for a non hicas set up and swap it out.

Image

Image

Image

and installed a new belt (this is the correct replacement belt for a rb20 w/hicas pump)
Image

So i assumed with my pump swapped it would solve my PS issues...and i assumed wrong, after driving the car for a day or two the issue came back.... but what i did figure out was wrong was that my PS cooler had clogged up and was causing the issue i was having :(. So as a temporary fix so i could drive the car till i figured out what i wanted to do about the PS cooler taking a crap, i simply bypassed the cooler and drove the car without one for a while to make 100% sure that this WAS the actual issue i was having.

Everything was all fine and dandy for a while till the next drift event i was attending came up, Import alliance 2011 at NSS. Driving at NSS once again i wanted to make sure that my car would be up to the task of surviving a entire drift day of 95+ weather temps and 180+ engine temps. The first area to address was my cooling fan setup, which worked great for weather below 85 but driving the car on the revlimiter and hot lapping would tax my cooling set up WAAAYYYY more then i would be comfortable with. So i came up with a set of cooling fans and a new power steering coolerthen went about installing the stuff and get the car ready for IA11.

-pulled the bumper off the car and started dissection (had to remove the OLD PS cooler and fans, FMIC,piping old E fan and the old PS bracket)

old stuff gone

new fans installed and modified for push instead of pulling

new larger PS cooler installed and plumbed in

FMIC and piping reinstalled

At this point the car was running again, the PS cooler worked perfect and no PS issues, the new fans should help a ton with keeping the car ALOT cooler, still needed to mount up new tires on the fronts and get my drift spares mounted up.

I decided that this go around i wanted to trailer my car to NSS for IA11, i would be taking 6 drift spares, all my tools, coolers, a tent, my luggage and spare parts for my car and my GF's del sol. My GF jen aka YMISOQT was driving her freshly rebuilt Del Sol (which WE just did a ton of work to) down to IA11 and even though we had total faith in the cars reliability we figured towing one car and if we had a issue with hers we could just swap cars on the trailer and continue on, so because of all the above having a large tow rig with plenty of room for everything would just make life that much easier.

So the morning we headed to IA11 I got the trailer all ready to go and loaded up the 240 and away we went

first gas stop in paducah lol

we arrived in Lebanon, TN and crashed out for the night, got up the next morning at 6am so i could get the car washed up and to the track by the 7 am check in... at the car wash lol

We got to the track and got tech'd in and then hit the drivers meeting, shortly after the meeting the got the track hot and started the run groups.... i got stuck in run group D.. the advanced drivers without cages group. I took me a cpl laps to get the track down due to using a different tire ive never used before and running 50psi for air pressure. I had assumed that due to the heat of the day the track would be sticky and too much traction would be a issue for me, i was wrong lol... these tires were slick and ended up dropping tire pressure down to 40 psi to get a acceptable amount of grip that i could work with.

now for some pictures from random sources i found:

Ended up going through 2 sets of new tires including a complete de- lamination of one tire which resulted into more rear spat damage lol
Image

Also discovered that at 95+ weather the car would still run WAY hot even with a big aluminum radiator, two fans, vented hood, spaced up hood AND water wetter... the car temp spiked up to 220 a cpl times after runs... i was not very comfortable with this at all and missed out on some track time due to having to let the car cool down between runs ... sigh. This is something i will have to address and have several ideas to fix this issue and will post up my plans and pictures as i work on it. But for now the car ran awesome, i put down ALOT of really good runs and had a blast driving my ass off. Car proved once again its a super reliable car and can take a full track day and then be driven to dinner. I decided NOT to put the car back on the trailer so we (meaning my awesome GF wanted to drive the car) could drive it around Nashville and to dinner and then back to the track the next day to hard park at the meet.

our weekend was awesome and went great, we had a great day driving and a great day showing of the cars and BS'ing with all out internet friends and enjoying every buddies cars. Ill be updating this soon when i tear into the running hot issue this car has ... im pretty sure this next round of mods will be a perm fix for it and i shouldnt have anymore issues, my next track day is a actually a MDU event at NSS coming up in a cpl weeks... so look fwd to more updates then also

Wow, I have been finding some posts that could help me with my 240 which also has rust. it's a shame they have those problems. I hope you read this but you have just cheered me up on fixing mine, I was going to fix it but was worried if i would be able to pull it off, but now that I saw yours I know nothing is impossible, and that It will be rust proof soon! I hope you read this, thank you!

Yeah too bad this guy isn't still online. I was looking at the rust repair as well and wondering what gauge of steel he used for the frame rails. At this point I'm fairly set on 14 for mine since there is about 60% of the rail left and my poor little MIG 120 Welder can't handle much more than that without a ton of cool-down time.

I used 12G for mine.

I think it would take too long to weld that with my dinky welder. I could do some trial runs with some scrap to see if its up to the task. Thanks.
