got my rb20det clip this past monday (01/12).
currently its sitting in my driveway on the trailer that we hauled it up from jhot on.
the clip is pretty clean, altho when the engine does come out im defintately gonna take some engine brite to it.
had an aftermarket intake (hks pod filter) but other than that it is completely stock, which is a good thing.
it has 140k km's on it so it is kinda high mileage but looking into the radiator and the oil, who ever owned it took care of it as even the timing belt had just been changed.
i hope to have it in the car and running by the end of january and am probably going to see if i can wire my car to use the rb cluster (mod ka dash harness) and do that.
the only problem i see with that is that the rb speedo is cable driven vs the ka's electric one, any ideas?
also if anyone wants to know about the quality of clips and motorsets that jhot offers, they are topnotch.
clean engines and clean clips.
joe (who is going back to japan soon) was great, really nice and helpful.
yeah, i suppose i'll post more when i get the swap started.

To Get The Speedo To Work Swap The Ka Electric Sensor In, They Are The Same. For The Cluster, Just Swap In The Rb Tach And Wire The Speedo, Tach, And Water Temp Directly To The Ka Cluster. This Is What I Have Done And It Reads Right.

Wiring the 32 cluster to work in the 240 is work, EVERY single wire in the back of the cluster has to be rewired.

Here is a pic of one in my car

awesome man.
i hope that you still have the wireing diagrams somewhere right?
else me and the 240 and r32 fsm are going to be spending some quality time together.
what did you do for the speedo?
the r32 is cable driven, so i guess i'll have to run that to the tranny some how.

I think I have half of a diagram. I just wrote out what each color wire was for in each of the 3 plugs for the 240sx harness, on the back of the cluster it's all written out next to each wire or somewhere on the circuit it says what it is, which is how I figured it out, I'll post up the diagram on here if I can if not I'll email it to you. FOr the speedo cable I cut a hole and ran it up to the back of the cluster. Also if you are interested I have a NISMO speedo from my cluster that I am selling, instead of 180km/h it's 260km/h, Email me and let me know if you need either.

The Rb20 Comes Out Of The R32 Skyline, Cefiro, 200zr (300zx), Stagea, And Some Laurels Had Them.

Ohh They Can Also Be Found In R31 Skylines, And Quite A Few Other Older Cars.

hmmm.
proly a dumb question but is there a retainer clip for the speedo cable to keep it attatched to the gauge cluster?
we had to search for my cluster and it ended up sitting under a ca18 motorset, so i dont know if there was anything to hold it on.
the cable looks fine cept for the bits of glass in the outer protective sleeve.
also nismo241 where did you drill the hole for the speedo cable?
all i really need now is a clutch and mounts, the former being ordered tommorow and the mounts verry soon after that.

I cut my hole in the firewall right behind the cluster, but the bend in the cable from cutting there is too 'extreme' so it won;t read correctly, but if you cut a hole in the tranny tunnel close to the front and bring it up through there.

ok.
time for another update i suppose.
worked all day on the car started off draiing fluids and all that good stuff.
removed ac, rad. , emissions crap, ka dp, and other various bits and pieces.
also pulled the rb later in the evening by cutting out the rad suoport for the r32 and the bumper and pulled it out through the huge gaping hole.
all in all i thought it was a good amount of work completed for only 2 people working on the car.
the rb should be in the car tommorow and hopefuly i'll have the car wired up to run so it will be out sat night.
pulling the tranny revealed a shiny flywheel, light weight perhaps, and a toasted stock clutch.
looks like the car was a daily driver and proly just used to get grocerys.
yeah, i know, all of you are wanting to see pics, im taking them but on a disposable camera so that my digital doesnt get messed up.
well thats kinda it for tonight, gonna crash and be up early tommorow to orginize the mess in the garage.
