What kind of intake setups are ppl using here for their 240s' and has anyone bought a cheat kit off ebay, are they any good?
most ppl just save up for the sr20 w/ a big fat turbo on it so screw the intake. but i do believe that 200-300 bux for a aluminum tube w/ a filter on it is a waste of money. mayb just a k&n filter is all you need so see that lil itty bitty gain from an intake. 30 bux will get you a filter, and all you need is to remove the air box housing thing.

D1GP, dont think im some ricer, i was just wondering what all of u were using, intakes gonna give me 5hp, i was just wondering if anyone used those cheap kits off ebay. I dont need sumtin thats gonna make my car stall if its not installed right. With the mass air flow sensor i dont need a stalling car haha, im thinking maybe just get the K and N in there, but i also like that nice cool look of the polished pipe in the car u know. hehe THANKS GUYS

holy crap what are you talking about paying 200-300 dollars for a freaking intake. I have a 90 degree bend pvc pipe comming off of the throttle body/butterfly valve pipe that cost a dollar, maf goes off of that, then i have an hks filter on the end that i paid about 40 bucks for. if you want to cheap out you can go with an off brand filter from autozone or whatever off ebay for 10-20. of course this would require you move the battery to the trunk, the way i did it it cost me about 35 bucks, but you can home depot that too if you want, so you could do it for 5 bucks if you were really stretched.

minimum cost for high flow intake + trunk battery mod = approx 20$, but you would have a hard time making everything fit, and if you needed to put it back to stock you would have trouble because you would have to cut up the stock pipe, unless you could get the pvc joint free, if not that makes it more like 21$ :)

Thanks CHM, i think people were getting the idea i just blew up a honda and then bought a 240, haha. Im so far from "ricer" than a ricer could get. Besides im a mustang guy. and muscle car guy. I used to be a level 3 department manager at target, one day i left after my shift, i walked outside and saw a beautiful car. I was like holy crap what is that?! i went and looked at every side of it. turned out to be a S14 240sx with 18's and it was an se model. Since that day, i saved every dime i made and bought a 1995 240sx, i wanted a 300zxTT but my parents didnt allow for it. So i said hey whats the best next car? a 240sx! so i looked around for one for almost a month, well i found the perfect S14, while i was saving up i read alot about the 240sx's off this site every day and found what to look for, needless to say i was converted from the domestic drag scene to the import scene. Which the only imports id drive would be a nissan! Thanks alot to all you guys for helpin, maybe even if u didnt know u helped. I know more about the domestic engines and things. And i just wanted to see what people were using for an intake on their 240's. I think im gonna leave my intake stock, just add a K and N filter. THANKS GUYS

I got an AEM intake for like $80...seemed to make throttle response better, and made it alot louder...not much noticable hp gain tho =/ Im probably gonna cut it up and use it for IC piping =P BTW, if you dont install any intake right, it will probably make your car stall, or at least act weird...but thats why you go ahead and install it right!

injen intakes are pretty good, if you get the cold air extention. dyno results have showed it can increase 10-14 hp. The short-ram injen isn't very good because the metal tube heats up and there is little performance increase. The cold air extention goes under the engine and does not get hot, though one thing that I don't like about it is if it sucks up water from a water puddle, that will blow your engine up. So if it rains you can take the cold air extention out, but it is a bitch to. I'm going to make a custom carbon fiber intake set-up.

Dude It's OIL you know the samething used to cool down the engine it would burn up and have no effect except for some black smoke coming out the tail but that wouldn't last very long.

since when??? my friend got one from ebay and didn't have to do anything
read my post again. im not talking about ebay trash. my intake is a 90 degree bend comming off the throttle body that puts the filter where the battery is originally located. gets rid of about 4 feet of usless pipe.

Hm...Id think there would be a reason for the filter being where it is...other wise wouldnt they have just switched the location of the battery and the filter stock? Probably wouldve saved them a bit in production costs...not a whole lot, but thats not exactly something you miss easily. "Hey! I got an idea!! Lets run this intake pipe all the way over to here for no reason at all!!! Yeah!!"

ummm i never heard of cai's moving tha battery to the trunk that'd just be too much of a hassle. most would move i believe the windshield wiper fluid tank.

How you gonna get to the tank w/o moving the battery? lol. These intake poste are stupid and pointless, there are endless topics and 20 people who say "get and SR20" because for some reason thats the greatest thingin the world (sarcasm). For an N/A application that right side mount is the best and cheapest way to go.
