Does anyone know where i can get a tranny rebuild kit for a stock KA24DE engine? Should i just go to AutoZone? Or is there a performance rebuild kit?

Thanks

rephrase the question

you say rebuild kit for a tranny..auto or stick? but then you say engine? are you rebuilding the transmission or the engine? If you are building a 5spd, stock is good enough. if you are building an automatic, go buy a 5spd and swap it.

Sorry, I posted during a class at school and I was rather rushed. . . Its a 90 stock KA and it has 140,000 miles on it, It needs a clutch BAD and then engine only has 18,000 miles on it, I figured if I putting in a new clutch and have it up on a lift I'd look into putting new gears and everything in it, or should I just change the fluid, clutch and filter. . . its a 5 speed by the way, Im not sure what the code is for it. . . Thanks in advance

Filter? lol, no filter. But if your clutch is goin bad.....you dont need a new tranny or to rebuild the whole thing....... Just get a new clutch and tranny fluid. Or you can get another Tranny for about 200 easy.

Yeah, I know about the 500 mile break-in period, but I was told by too people that they had a filter, I didnt think that they did but two people were swaring that they had a filter. . . But anyways, any recomendations on a clutch, what have people had the best luck with?

SPEC and ACT are the leaders, nismo is sapose to be grade A but way to pricey. I have a spec S1 clutch and spec ligthweight flywheel. I love it, spec is has sprung hub so it has a easy pedal which I like. ACT.....stiffer the clutch the stiffer the pedal.....

ACT is good stuff. I bought the package from Courtesy Nissan for 400 (Clutch and pressure plate ..TB and algn tool) for right around 400. The ACT disc alone is 120ish. Sounds to me like your PP is gonna be worn too, so I'd go ahead and order the Set from Courtesy (unless otherwise noted by someone else for cheaper).

Question to Evil: I also believe in the 500 mile thing, but I've heard two different versions.
1 is that the 500 miles need to be city miles because that's when you do the most shifting and thus it breaks it more.
2. 500 miles is all you need. highway can be included but obviously shouldn't be all of it.

To be on the safe side I did about 420 highway and 200 city. What's your take on where the miles should be obtained?

EDIT:

ADDENDMUM: I had the ACT package in both my B14 (200SX SE-R) and now my S14 (240SX SE) and I loved them both. I'll probably continue to put ACT's in my car.

Your right on Toddles. 500 is just a safe mialage to use. If your driving and the clutch is engaged and your goin 55 in 5th gear, to much throttle can cause that clutch to slip a bit and warp yourflywheel or burn your new clutch up. The whole purpose of breaking it in is to make your new marks on the reserfaced or new flywheel. You cant do this when the clutch is not making a clean grip with it. Hope this helps.

Can anyone recommend a manual transmission rebuild kit? Is the nissan factory service manual the best book to have on hand for the rebuild?

I say get redline shockproof gear oil and call it good.
As for autos.....nearly every auto tranny has a filter, some are not replaceable (ie. new toyotas)
