Just my new 240... has weird noise...

i know its comming from the rear end.... the guy said he changed the stock rear end with teh j30...... every time i downshift to slow down i hear a clunk... at first i thought it was my spare tire..... but it wasnt....

need help.

not sure but it could be the vlsd, but i only heard this about the clutch type lsds not vlsd, if could also be the bushings, check these first

I heard the same noise in a 240 I test drove last week. I thought it was either the suspension or the rear diff. Sorry if this doesn't help

there is anomount of back lash in a reardiff- when building a rear-end you need to factor in material,and fluid,and teeth,binding, exspanshon..plus the trans,driveshaft,and the diff have slack in it.. If there too much backlash - there rearend might need to be re-shimmed... cheack bushinhs thats the diff rest up against as well-

i had the same problem it was my sub frame spacers i changed them and got the diffrential bushings from nismo and it was gone put the car on jack stands and jack up the diff. see where the play is coming from then change them i went with the aluminum sub frame bush..
