does anyone know how to fix the digital speedometer on a 89 240sx. I'm pretty sure it isn't stock on the car, but anyways for some reason it won't turn on. It might be the wiring, planning to check it out sometime in the next few days. But does anyone have any pointers on what to look for exactly... before i check it out myself.

do a search for digital speedo or heads up display (hud) i know others have posted on this too. i have the digital dash with hud too and i know when its cold out it takes a while to come on (i guess it has to get warm from the car running), but it works just fine in the warm weather.

gracias.. it was a cold night when i took it out.. but it never came on.. so it might be something else. is the digital speedometer generally visible at night?

as far as i know it should be. do you have the hud too or is just digital speedo? yeah, sometimes it can take like 10 or 15 minutes to fully come one, try maybe putting on your defrosters and moving some warm air up by the top of the dash.

i believe it's just the digital speedometer... no hud from what i know.

haha.. interesting.. what color are the numbers on the digital speedometer when they're operating...
of bright yellowish/super light green/tinged white color.OaklandAlive said:

however, the hud is green.
if you're good with electronics, take apart the speedo cluster and use a multimeter to pinpoint the component that causes this problem. i read on a post that it was a capacitor of some sort. just replace it (can be found at electronics outlet for under a dollar or so) and it should work fine.

lol when i checked out the car today, the digital speedometer worked then it turned off again. i'll actually start going under the hood, under the car as well as fiddling around with the dash tomorrow. so we'll see then. those links are helpful, thanks a bunch man. haha that diagram is sick dude.
