sr 97 240 vs. v6 mx6

So I raced a v6 mazda mx6 5spd from a stop today and got him by about 4 car lengths at the end of 3rd gear.. I launched hard and smoked all of first .. So`what do these things run in the quarter? I was expectin to get more of a lead than that.. My first sr seemed to pull harder than this one..


btw Im running 10 psi and stock exhaust with a cheap muffler..

ok well, I kinda would have thought you would have done better than that seriosly. Because i had an NA Z and i got beat by an mx6 by about 3 feet and all he had was CAI, but then I raced a sr20det powered s13 and let me tell you it wasnt pretty LOL. That was the worst i ever got spanked LOL. But did you have any un needed wieght in the car? What kind of an exhaust do you have? And what kind of mods did the mx6 have? Btw when i raced the Mx6 we raced from a 40 punch and i was all stock. I would have got him off the line though im sure.

Sounds like the same car/engine as the probe (626, mx6 and something else). I can't remember the engine name.

They aren't too quick. Even if they swap the ZE (JDM engine for them) I believe they still run mid to low 14's with a great driver and bolt ons. You should have beaten him by more, but like someone else's term in another post, I'm just a "keyboard racer". Who knows what really caused this.

go to probetalk.com my friend has one of the fastest all motor mx-6s 13.5 @ 100 , they can be extremely fast. check out probetalk and look for streetthismx6 thats his screen name

Thats what im saying, im kinda dissapointed. He was all stock and it was a newer one , like a 96 or something.. As for my exhaust its a stock catback with a naxos muffler so that 2 1/4 piping is kinda restrictive at high rpms,,I had one other person with me and so did he...

I just looked it up and they run 15.8 in the quarter..also my car is a s14 with a 13 redtop.. so i would guess this means my car would be a high 14.9 in the 1/4 mabie? Im gonna go to the track tomorrow if it doesnt rain to see...

^I found out I had a bad vacuum leak when I raced that mx6. And I AM a capable driver.. For mods I have:
cusco smic pipe
blitz bov
jun ultra lightweight flywheel
spec stage 2 clutch
2.5 in downpipe, stock exhaust piping with cheap muffler welded on
m's intake
joe p boost controller set at 10 psi
nismo mounts

The v6 mx6's and probes can actually hit lower fifteens, like 15.1 - 15.3 with out much in the way of modifications, so don't feel too too bad.

Also, four cars isn't a short distance to beat someone by, that is probably half a second.

^well i am running the stock 16's with the cheapest tires you can buy from pep boys heh..I also measured my exhaust with a digital vernier caliper today and its exactly 2" outer diameter!!that sux..so I ordered a uras cat back today,,I guess those rear camber arms and fromt camber plates will have to wait.
