Just a thought...can you swap a RWD SR20DE and replace the head with SR20VE head. I know some people just swaped the whole SR20VE motor in their FWD cars like the Sentra...so im just real curious if its possible to take a RWD SR20DE and put a FWD SR20VE head in it.
yeah but why would you want to do that?!? just buy a whole sr20vet from a primera (japanese g20)... the transmission should bolt on. Yeah I know it's FWD but that's why the engine is rotated (ever noticed that fwd sr20det's are mounted 90 degrees different from rwd sr20's?)... so what you do is get FWD SR20VE or SR20VET... and then mount it just like the SR20DET (with an SR20DET RWD tranny) and then you replace the intake manifold with RWD DET manifold (because it will be facing the wrong way (towards the firewall instead of towards the front of the car because of the way the engine is mounted on a fwd car).

EDIT - forgot a link

I dont think the tranmission and the transaxle have the same bell housing. And I dont think the bolts line up eighter. if it did line up like you imagine , Iam sure most people would just get the sr20det FWD engine( becouse it's cheaper) and just bolt it onto there KA24(bigger then SR Trans)

But I have heard that if you get a custom trans made, it can be done..

Well ironically on the link I posted, the guy used RWD DET block w/ sr20ve head... go figure.

I think people don't buy the fwd because they need the rwd tranny anyways (there's no compatible us tranny anyways, not even KA trannies). And then they won't have to mess with intake manifold as I already mentioned. I'm not sure if the bellhousing is compatible but I would bet that the engines are almost identical save the intake manifold. This is just theoretical so don't flame me :)

BTW note that I never said it would bolt to KA tranny. I was referring to:

FWD SR20VE + RWD SR20DE transmission + custom intake manifold (perhaps rwd SR20DET manifold would fit) because the throttle faces the back of engine bay... basically I was just saying that the SR20 engines are (near) identical and it was the peripherals that changed (intake manifold, exhaust manifold [perhaps], transmission).
