im new at drifting also but i do know one thing try to keep your car stock for sa long as posable. if you star to modify the car off the bat and drift at the same time your going to loose it. drive your car to the limit in stock trim so you can feel out the capabilits of the car first. if you dont you will never know what you really got. if you do modify yoour ride start with drivetrain and suspension first. power should be the last thing you upgrade. the first upgrade im doing to mine is a stage II act clutch but im mainly getting it because mine is starting to slip. make shure you keep good maintence on your car before some thing breaks. if you do drifting every day you should give your diff an overhaul once a month but if you do it once a week it needs an over haul every 6 months. Remember drifting is alot of stress to your car so as long as you check every thing and make shure it runs right at least once a month you should have no problem. i would also recoment changing the oil a little sooner than 3000 or 3 months because of the increase in rpms
that 3k oil change is recomended for normal drivers drifters drive much harder. normal driving range is below 3k rpms. drifters drive much past that. also go out and buy the drift bible that should teach you some of the basics to learn off of.

i fucking hate it how people stroll in here and start repeating every thing the drift bible said, and try to use it to their advantage to make other people think that they know how to drift.


the drift bible is the bane of us all.

DUDE THAT IS SO FUNNY... WHEN I WAS READING THAT I WAS LIKE HEY I HEARD THAT BEFORE.... HAHAHA!!! I can't stop cracking up right now... Heres the reality of drifting... no matter how much you read or freakin watch the Drift Bible, you will never learn and fully understand what they are saying until you really figure it out on your own... Go to a huge ass parking lot and start playing with your car.... Just cause youre freakin cooked up on info doesnt mean that all of that will process in your head... I know it didnt with me, and I learned how to drift without no bible or videos...heck, for the young people that just got in to drifting you guys are so lucky that all info and materials are just right there in front of you... Just think about it and try learning it on your own... and then supplement what you have learned with the videos and informations, then youll fully understand what they are all saying...

i wanna start drifting but im still working on my suspension b/c i turn 17 in june so im still kinda a youngster even though ive been driving since i was 14 1/2 i have one of those cool dads... lol but this is my first rwd car...so my new hobbie is going to be racing and drifting...this thread really helped me out thanks guys/girls..

Drift Bible

I havent read all the posts and im gonna feel like a dumbass if someone already posted this but go to your local video store and rent/buy and video called "The Drift Bible". The guy is korean i believe and it shows all the basic to mid level things you need to know about drifting. It's a great video. me and a few of my friends are starting a club and its the first video we got. we are all beginners and already have improved from watching it.

BTW the reason why everyone is laughing at you is because well, your really n00bish for one. The guy is Japanese his name is Keiichi Tsuchiya.

If you want to improve I suggest going to a drift clinic/autocross. If you live in So Cali you might be lucky enough to have a few guys show you something. Don't touge, not to be a ass but you're seriously not worthy.

i thought the post was about how to drift? not how to shit out ur mouth. but i guess sumwhere along the line we switched topics. anyways it was really fun reading this. id say the best thing to learning how to drift is first learning which direction u turn ur freakin keys to start the car. and yeah, if u hav a stick shift. the reason it aint startin is cuz u gotta put the clutch in.!

really i aint tryin to cut on ne1 in particular, no disrepect to the knowledgable ones posting, and you know who u r. oh yeah, lil OFF topic buuuut----anyone know a few good books concerning grip driving?
I know there was one mentioned on either this thread or maybe another *all about drifting* thread. but, any others ?

yes yes we all hate the drift bible. people who have no business driving, let alone drifting, watch the video and think they are the shit. then they show up in my spots and do doughnuts for an hour, they burned down 2 of my best lots all the time the cops have someone pulled over there, and not the good doughnuts either the little half ones where it looks like the get scared half way through and spin out. all that being said i bought the drift bible because i got tired of my friends askin me how to do something. its gotten to the point now that if they ask me something stupid i say, "hold on let me go get the video so you can watch it again."
