please everyone where can i find in depth info on the rb series swaps into a s14. I need more than just "It fits right in". The night guy (Who seems most knowlegable, sorry guys) was talking about cooling fan modification in something I read. I would like to know more about this. Also where can OEM RB parts be found. I know with tha SR swap to make thigs tidy the wiring harness must be lengthened for the correct placement of the ecu in a left hand drive car. I know this seems unimportant but this is the kind of stuff i would like to know. Also what is the upgrade potential in the RB20? If anywhere around 500hp why is this not the choice rb due to cost, in addition to the fact that people wont have to worry about their beloved "balance". How come people never worry about heavy shoes or that 30 pounds of shit in their trunk. 5 large is not spending cash for a 19 year old I can only afford to do things right. I would appreciate info from anyone who is knowlegable in this field.

alright img oing to be nice

1. IT DOES NOT COST 5 LARGE...RB25DET IS AT LEAST $4000 CLIP ONLY

2. IT DOES NOT BOLT RIGHT IN YOU NEED NEW FRAME MOUNTS AND YOU MUST MODIFY THE RADIATOR BRACKETS YOU MUST MODIFY FIREWALL TO HOUSE RB25 GETRAG TRANSMISSION

3. OEM RB PARTS CAN ONLY BE FOUND IN JAPAN WE DID NOT GET AN RB ENGINE IN THE STATES

4. RB20 IS NOT A GOOD ENGINE IN THE RB SERIES IT WILL NEVER MAKE AS MUCH POWER AS A RB25/26...A BETTER ENGINE WOULD BE RB25 W/ RB26 INDIVIDUAL THROTTLES

about the beloved balance...you obviously have NO CLUE WHAT THE FUCK SUSPENSION GEOMETRY & BALANCE MEANS

1. 30 lbs over the rear wheels is NOTHING Compared to 100+ over the front axle THIS CHANGES THE CARS HANDLING DRASTICALLY i doubt with an amp and some food in your trunk you're going to have shitty handling but throw 100 lbs over springs that cant hold it and PREPARE FOR SOME FUCKING DANGEROUS AND REALLY SHITTY HANDLING

you obviously have no idea what the fuck you're doing...the RB swap IS NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN DO WITH 5000 DOLLARS IF YOU CANNOT DO THE FOLLOWING THINGS AND HAVE THE FOLLOW TOOLS

Tools:
1. cherry picker
2. engine stand
3. every wrench and dremel tool tip you can think of

Skills:
1. wiring a cars ignition
2. rerouting radiator & coolant pipes
3. wiring an ecu
4. bolting in transmissions
5. modification of transmission cross members
6. modification of suspension

YOU CANNOT DO THIS SWAP WITH A STOCK SUSPENSION YOU NEED AT LEAST COILOVERS

oh yeah engine to hood clearance is fucked too so dont plan on a swaybar

*edit*
i forgot to add fabrication & welding under the Skills list

thanks

Thanks Mr jspec you are so smart I am actually building a shrine for you now since you had the charity to give me some of your vast knowledge. But thanks for the info, really thats the kind of stuff i need to know. Too bad i had to get it from such a tool.

1.)you are awsome

2.)you are really awsome

3.)you are even more awsome now

dude, Neil, dont act like a fucken ass, i think "onemorejspec" did you a favor and actually taking time to post something for you. you could easily avoided this by doing a search since just like the SR, the RB swap has been beaten to death. do a search, cuz since you dont even know the price tag of an engine/clip, you are no where close to being ready for a swap, let alone taking out your KA.

also, since you think Cameron is the only one that knows something about the RB, ask him! since he did about 4 swaps already. y even post and talk to people who never had hands on exp. with the swap.

Man what's with people being so inflamitory? Seems like a long post just to tell somebody to shove off. Please man lay off, Neil actually had a couple of good questions. Give him a break, he probably searched and didn't find anything, then asked. I remember doing this same thing which you did too at some point in time. We've all asked questions at some point. Not to mention you gave him some missinformation. Neil e-mail me at drushing14@comcast.net and I'll answer any question you have.

Thanks,

holy balls, is it just me or are nissan ppl angry ppl. Hey bro if you want info on the swap you can email me also Jarrett1313@hotmail.com . I did my research and have found out alot. I can also point to some places that have info for you to read up on. Personally I wouldnt do the RB20 because there just isnt enough displacement. I would look into either the rb25 or rb26. And the whole thing about the engine sitting to high can be corrected with the a31 cefiro x-member. There are other things you got to get done to but you can read and explore for yourself. If you are going to do the swap yourself you are going to need an assortment of tools(check with all your neighbors on your street and you should be fine;) ) Also from everthing I read its easiest if the swap goes in from the bottom(dont know how to do that without a lift...but that is how I am doing mine). About the replacement parts alot of them can be taken from nissans from here for example the 300z. And no one was born knowing what they were doing...atleast I wasnt, so this is a learning experience for all of us that dont know.

RB25DET clip from me ***Prices are not to be shown here***.

The RB25DET does "fit right in" although others claim it won't.

"IT DOES NOT BOLT RIGHT IN YOU NEED NEW FRAME MOUNTS AND YOU MUST MODIFY THE RADIATOR BRACKETS YOU MUST MODIFY FIREWALL TO HOUSE RB25 GETRAG TRANSMISSION" - ONEMOREJSPEC

1) You don't need new frame mounts unless you go clear back to the R31 series engines.
2) You don't need to modify radiator brackets providing you use the stock 240SX radiator which does just fine with this engine.
3) There is no need to modify the firewall, did anyone see my pics? That'll show you. The transmission fits in just fine, it is larger than the KA, but it fits fine.

"OEM RB PARTS CAN ONLY BE FOUND IN JAPAN WE DID NOT GET AN RB ENGINE IN THE STATES" - ONEMOREJSPEC

Actually, I can get RB parts easily. Companies such as myself, Unstabl-Hyrbids, After-dark Tuning, and Motorex all carry or will soon carry RB inventory. Parts are ordered from Japan, but can be got here in the US. Also, clutch, ignition, oil filter, and plugs can be referenced to US model cars so you don't have to get anything from Japan for those parts.

Finally, the RB20DET is a fine choice. It does not have as much torque as a SR20DET, but it has more HP than the Red top. It is also capable of a lot more HP providing you build it correctly. If you make it a RB24DET it can produce massive amounts of HP.

If anyone has any more questions about this swap, please call me at 360-672-2415 or email me at NightXCZ77@aol.com

The only thing that makes me more angry than people being misinformed about this swap are the people who misinform everyone. ONEMOREJSPEC has done a great job at this in the beginning of this post.

Actually, unstable didn't smack me down. I posted an ending to the whole argument and they never responded afterwards. The whole topic was to call them on misleading and false info. The false info was the misleading info provided which was cleared up by the end. Other false info included claims which were already stated in the other post and don't need to be brought into this one.

Hey NIGHT enough of that! Remember we agreed to that! Lets feed positive info. from now on. No debating who smacked who, K.
Lets not get drawn into that, K. My suggestion to you though is to work on finishing your web site and post some pictures and info on stuff you do so people can see and be convinced that you actually do some good stuff, then people will have choices as to whom to shop with, K. Your competition does that so should you, no more name calling, please.
I got your back. So Lets talk car, do some bench racing and educate.
Please respond, Positive thoughts now.
