rotting frame

i need to know what to do about my rotting frame. the prior asshole owner didnt maintain the underbody very well and now it looks like ass.

should i
-ignore it
-re-inforce
-get a new one
-anything else?

How bad is the rust? Is it just surface rust, are are there weak spots in the metal?

its so weak in the rear area that when i got my exhaust worked on, it would crumble and form holes when i hit it with a screw driver handle.

did you recently get the car? if so, you should have spotted that and not bought the car.... your case sounds bad...im no expert on rust so im not suire what u can do...sorry

it doesn't sound to good man. rust is one hell of a problem. if its as bad as it sounds, then it looks grim. you can try to fix it, but more than likely it will come back. thats the problem with rust, its very persistant. you could clean up your whole frame and get rid of the rust, but i almost garentee it'll pop back up in no time

Have a frame specialist check it out. You can go to almost any body shop and they can also do it.

On topic, how hard is it to replace the rockerpanels and re-enforcments? Mine are pretty rusted and I can't really jack the car up. The underbody looks good though, I had to crawl under there... it really sucked. Should I just take the parts and the car to a body shop? or can I do this myself? I noticed the outter molding is welded to the rear quarter panels(?).Could I just cut that and replace em?

my frame has a few rust spots on it but my bodyman is gonna cut it out and weld in new metal to reinforce it, he said it should last for a while as long as i have it oil sprayed when ever i need it....
