Rb25 'too' fast...

Okay I used to drive my 450+HP Z32 everyday until i started drivin my 240. But when i drive this 240 it feels like it could pull my freakin Z. GOD! this rb is insane, too fast almost, maybe i got a freak engine. I dont get it, i know the 240 lighter, but the rb only has 250HP, and the only mods it has is mines ecu,intake, and 3" exhaust. I still have the piss ant stock side mount, everything else stock.

I dont freakin get it.

Could you guys let me know how to check the timing and set it to a safe time?

My motor isnt knocking, but i dont really 'trust' my ECU to compensate for lean conditions because of my past experiences with it.

Any ideas guys besides getting it to correct time.

Im gonna hook up an EGT guage this weekend to see how hot things are down there. I blew a Z motor back when i was 18 (didnt know anything) and i had an EGT on each side, one side was running about 700degreesF more than the other. I soon found out that it was due to a wastegate hose being disconnected (crazy freeboost).
At least it went out glorious, was racing a 550 maranello and was winning...hehe, oh well ya live and learn

But seriously, i dont think this thing is supposed to be that fast....but maybe it is..

BTW: i havent hooked up a boost guage yet....maybe i should do that too or steal it out of my Z...hehe

yeah, the wastegate is fine as long as it sees the boost the turbo is producing. The RB motors are quick as hell, dont worry...in about 3 months you will think its slow again!!!

Timing, I will email you the process once I get a chance.

hey, what were you driving before, like right before you drove the RB? I use to have an NA Z and then i sold it and had to borrow a crappy hick truck for about 4 months until i bought a 240sx and got the SR swap. LOL and the first time i stepped on it in the SR i was like AAAhhhhhhh im sooooo fucking freaked!! But its the coolest feelinging int he world! well close to it at least. But yeah lol just like Jon said after a few weeks i thought i was slow again. So the turbo is getting bigger so i can feel fast again for a while. THen i will realize unless i have 500rwhp or somthing i wont be fast haha after another few weeks.

You will get use to it though, but its fun eh? hehe

ok cool thanks jon, ill email ya too.

I put my Z in storage at my parents place to go have fun with the RB for a while. I have a lot done to that car:
555cc inj./JWT program
garett 550 turbo upgrade
hks ICs
some bad ass JDM longchamp wheels (untra pimpy)
most suspension(adj a-arms, tein coilovers, sway bars, etc)
JUN light flywheel/4puck clutch
Blitz sbc-id3/power meter3
hks EGTs, apexiboost
stillen front lip

etc, etc.

But my mind is trailing off from the Z to this crazy ass 240, it still feels too fast.

Also, this bitch is shooting blue flames from what my friends riding behind me.

that happened in my wrx but I caught it there was some oil in the vacume lines and the hose slipped off the wastegate actuator so the wastegate wasn't opening and I got like 25psi but I caught it right away and fixed it. Luckily my egt's didn't get very high.

wdh.. i guess in texas, y'all like rb25dets.. damn.. dekand, thomas and the other guy from houston.. you all have rb25dets!!!damn bastards.. i thought i was cool when i got my sr20det!!! anyways.. hey thomas, you have a 450 hp z in storage?!?!?! i hate u!!! sell me ur rb25det 240sx sucka!!! no but major props on doing the rb25.. i would do it on a cheapo 240sx but with work and college, i have neither the time nor resources..

No i have a black Z but i know the guy with the yellow Z his name is bryan, his Z can rip the pants off mine. He has crazy internals (workin on pneumatic vavles or somethin) yea his is like 800hp or somethin.

Yea gotta watch those wastegate actuator hoses. if they slip off could mean disaster if you dont have an EGT.

HAHA, well Texas is a pretty big state, lots of potential people to have rb25s. But hey man, sr20s are pretty freakin tight, dont feel bad. I just was dealt some lucky cards in life when it comes to cars, but the rest of my life is pretty crappy. The Z will come out once in a while, but i think the 240 is more fun because its a super sleeper....RB POWA!
