I have some question, i bought my 89 s13. with a broken timing chain, but looks like there is more then just that.
I have someone selling me a s14 (95-98) engine, with ecu, wireharness. and all sensor.
First off can i use my stock tranny?
What would i need to make this work in my 89 s13. is there a wiring diagram to what needs to be connected too.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

First off search cd1921, this forum has information already on this if you actually take the time to look, and you'd be better off swapping in an SR20det with all the trouble you'll go through since you'll run into alot of the same issues being you have an 89 s13 (as I do) if your getting this due to $$ and can't get an sr20det I can understand but your wiring will be alot of fun (it'd be easier to get an s13 KA24DE w/ tranny, harness, ecu). By the way you can use your tranny but you'll have to change the bellhousing, in all it wouldn't be worth it just use the s14 tranny.

I believe the trannies are different. I noticed that when you search for clutches for S13's, they have 89-90 separate from 91-94.

SR20 (or RB20 and CA18DET's) are not an option for you right now?? Seems like a good time to do it.

I was reading that u can bolt on the tranny, but then again i dunno.
I would like to get and SR20 but i just bought the car 2 weeks ago, i knew the engine had a broken timing chaing but look at this. its what i found out, when i took the valve cover.

i though for the sr20 the best thing is to get the front clip thats around (2500-2900)
On the ca18det, i dunno how much it will cost. Does the ca bolt into my OEM tranny??

Yeah, I hear you. I bought my 240 over a month ago. It is not running correctly. However, I was under the impression that the motor was toast. Each time I work on the car, it is sounding better and better.

My 240 is not a daily driver though. It's a 3rd car.

I went from a car that barely idled and sounded like a diesel to a car that idles almost 100%, no longer sounds like a diesel, and actually drives now. My final issue with it is a bogging issue. I bought a new Walbro 255 fuel pump that I need to install soon. Hopefully, this will fix the problem.

Anyway, if money is a concern, I would search for a CA18DET motor swap or a CA18DET front clip. They are the cheapest.

Like the person in this thread explained, you might as well do the JDM swap because a lot of the work you have to do the the KA24DE swap will have to be done for the CA18DET swap anyway.

I recommend doing it the right way the first time. It will end up being cheaper and less of a headache in the longrun.

If need be, I would take out a loan to do the CA swap. It shouldn't be too much anyway.

Good luck.

thanks for the replies guys. I did the search and im reading. Sounds like it would be a pain in the ass to do the s14, unless if i change everything to s13 :( ??

Like u said 240nismo. Im better off with a kade s13. Well im gonna see what i can do. i may just see if nothing else is wrong with the valves on the sohc engine, get it running and then get an sr20 or CA.

Thanks again guys.
