i get about 170-180 miles to a tank that realy does not seem right, what are you guys getting?
Quite possible. Mine was throwing the knock sensor code and putting my car in fail safe mode because of the timing chain hitting the guide. (it was very loud) Once I fixed that and reset the ecu everything was fine.Fastzntn said:Symptoms of a bad knock sensor? My car seems to surge a little bit throughout the rev range, I'm thinking it might be picking up false knock.
I don't think the knock sensor will go or pick up knock without the ecu picking it up. I have changed so many things trying to get rid of my hesitation. I finally found out what it was...Clogged catalytic (sp) converter. I just took it off the other day and that thing was so dark black inside and couldn't see through it. I put a test pipe in it's place and now it doesn't hesitate at all. I didn't think that this would be the problem, but it sure did fix it.mentat said:semi-hijack, re: knock sensor.
is it possible for that to go bad without throwing a code? I'm still trying to figure out wtf is causing my low-rpm surging when cold... driving me nuts. throwing no codes, all maintenence items replaced - filters, pcv, new plugs and wires, fuel system cleaner.
almost only does it when cold. even at idle, the revs will climb and drop between normal idle and like 1000-1500rpm. then when driving at that same range, it will slow down, surge ahead, back n forth.
never thought of the knock sensor...
