i was wondering if anyone knew of a place that can do this kind of work? a place in portland, oregon maybe? also what kinda cost would i be looking at? here's what i want to get done.
tube chassis s13.
RHD conversion.

when you build a "tube chassis car" its not really an S13 anymore..your basically building a complete new car. you will need some DEEP pockets for somehting like this. many drag cars are build this way. TURBO mag follwed the construction fo a tube frame "project NORAD" drag celica that might intrest you.

tube chassis

to make an s13 a tube chassis you would have to cut the whole inside of the car out. The s13 is a UNI-BODY chassis which means there is no frame. so to make the car a tube chassis the whole floor would have to be removed. and this would sacrafice the structural integrity of the car unless you drop about 40-50k in a professional built chassis and then the car wouldnt be worth a shit. If you want to build a tube chassis car then get an old nova!

now that i think about it. i am more looking for just a really beefy roll cage. i was thinking somthing like the option/Jun 350z. the one that rolled at like 150mph, and the driver still walked away. i think it had like an 18 point roll cage or somthing like that. anyways, i guess i'm not looking for a tube chassis. i'm looking to a have a stout azz roll cage.

what do you want to do with the car? drag or road track? when building a tube car it could be lhd, rhd, mhd ( middle hand drive) what ever you want.. how far are you willing to travel to have this work done.. i'm in colorado and may be of some help..

to answer your question. i want to compete in the silver state classic next year.

my advice to you.. is get abunch of pictures of drag cars, a bunch of pictures of nascar car's.. both of these groups have high dollar r&n groups and they all go really fast.. you said you want a stout cage.. take abit of the housed in area of a funny car.. add that to the outter skeleton of the nascar... throw in a few extra bars for good measure.. and hope you drive well enough to not need them..
not be a dick but i agree with above statement about silver state.. i want to run my monster in it in say the next 8 years..

anyways.. bennyb

Sorry to "double post", but just to add. You do know the avg speed of the SSCC is OVER 200MPH( not not ALL cars are that fast, they even have little micro cars competing).

I would HIGHLY recommend being a volunteer there, before racing( course worker). You get to look at the cars first hand, get to know the track layout & just think it's a FREE education of the race.
Plus if you didnt know. You first entry fee( becuase it's your first race there) will be about $700
Then you are REQUIRED to have attended a high speed driving school in YOUR OWN vehicle.
Also, do you think you can drive at sustained speed in excess of 95MPH? That is the lowest class of speed to enter into.
I can go on & on. But my best advise like I stated earlier. It to be a volunteer course worker & buy the rule book.

thanks for the advice. i will probable volunteer first, like you said. also do you have any information about the driving school? where it takes place. i would think that it would take place somewhere where you could get going pretty fast. yes i can drive at a sustained speed of 95mph. not to sound cocky, but i could control a car at well over 140mph, gotta love freeways. i'm sure that SSC is a bit different than a freeway though.

All I can really tell you is to go on their website , contact them, ect. This is stuff you kinda need to learn on your own. Contact some of the race teams. Dont be afraid to ask questions. Learn to accept the words "No, cant & wont", because you may hear alot of it.
Once you get the info you need. If you cant get on a team, start your own. I would advise NOT posting a thread looking for people, bu,t instead PMing them & askin gindividuals YOU think you would want watching your back.
You will need spotters( for weather, road conditions, ect...), a co-driver( for directions) & crew to help you at the "pits". Not to mention a car carrier( to transport, for breakdowns, accidents, ect..)You also have to realise that there are a FEW parts stores around there. The odds of them having anything a slim. So you'd better be prepared, ESPECIALLY with tires. If you break down on the course....you are out of luck.
Also think. How you will pay these people helping you( unless they want to do it for free). Also hotel reservations, food, ect...
Like I said. Get on the SSCC website & read all you can, contact some people & be prepared to have to learn alot.
