Well, my 240 project is finally rolling. I picked up my s13 fastback at the end of August for $400. The body is in decent shape with some front end damage and a little bit of rust. The ka has a blown headgasket.
My overall plans for the car:
sr20det swap
repair body damage
new paint
suspension - coilovers , sway bars, strut bars, polyurethane bushings
z32 brakes, stainless lines
gram lights 57s rims
some sticky tires
my sr is ordered as well as a multitude of parts.
here's what i'm waiting on:
stainless steel clutch line
cusco motor mounts
here's what i have:
exedy stage 2 clutch
z32 fuel filter
240sx clutch master cylinder
jdm silvia cluster
manual trim piece (which may be the same as the auto lol. got another boot in the deal too
(thanks 240sideways for the cluster and trim piece!)
koyo aluminum radiator
autometer gauge cups
ssautochrome turbo manifold and turbo elbow
Blitz BOV
Greddy 3" downpipe
megan racing 3" test pipe
oem leather shift boot
autometer boost, water temp and oil pressure gauges
greddy profecBII
5zigen Rocket 2000 3" exhaust
this is the exhaust pipe
this is the tip... how much sound suppression? lol (the actual can is probably 6")
apexi safcII
walbro 255lph fuel pump
hks turbo timer
johnny race car intercooler
so now that my garage heater is installed - i will start my removal of the ka and auto tranny. need to take down the rust, then spray the engine bay flat black. good times. i will post updates to this as i go along.
oh yeah, i also have a bomex front end and a versus motorsports cf hood. as well as a bunch of other little bits and pieces to fix my front end damage. still looking for a driver's side fender!!
this is the first bit of progress
here's what i started with
i removed the lights, hood, bumper, splash guard, intake system and drained the fluids
doesn't that look delicious??
this is what the entire length of the intake looked like
here's the car at the end of the day
here's the next day worth of work. the engine is basically ready to be pulled out. all i need to do is get the cat unbolted, and the transmission loosened.
here's the engine bay now
pile of junk (there's more outside)
i had to work on the honda today too
(that's my dad and a friend)
today i got the car up on all 4 jack stands so i could finish pulling the exhaust and work on getting the tranny unhooked
sawzalled the old exhaust off. hmm, thank god for the 5zigen ($365) test fit shows the need for longer rubber hangers in the rear, otherwise it's perfect
also got the driveshaft out
finally got the engine out today.
crappy auto shifter gone
on it's way up
a bit more
it's out!
rwd auto sohc nissan, meet fwd manual sohc honda :cheers
today i got all the extra crap unbolted from the engine bay
i located the clutch mounting point and test fitted my pedal and clutch master cylinder
i also pulled the ac condensor and circulation fan out. then i pulled the wiring harness through the firewall
okay, i cleaned up the engine bay. i used seafoam degreasing agent, water sprayer, steel wool, rags, wire brush, tooth brush, acetone and an air compressor w/ a pressure nozzle attachement.
got the stupid battery tray busted out. not too much damage lol
here's what my rust removal looks like - fun work as many of you know i'm sure
here's the bay overall - dirty again
(i stripped all the paint off the front crossbeam because it was chipping bad)
cut the firewall where the clutch m/c will go
also cut the brake pedal so there's room for the clutch
started to primer some spots
i taped and bagged off all the shit in bay - paint tomorrow (or today but whose counting?)
i also got my engine!
what's that? a brand new sr harness? yes please
i'm missing the ignitor - which i should be getting. that's about it. tomorrow i'll pull the turbo, check the timing, and seperate the tranny!
parts i need: driver side fender, 91-94 front bumper. email me carl.siegler@gmail.com
