so im swapping a DOHC into my car and the motor mounts are my last concern before i start. i was looking at new mounts but i really dont want to spend that kind of cash for them so.. of course being traditional nissan style i know there is a way around this. i searched but couldnt find any good information. what is the name of the product or type of product you use from home depot or lowes to stiffen them up and how do you do it?

thanks for the help in advance guys!

OK, here we go, I thought I had posted a big long thing on my motor mounts a while ago but I must have messed up and never hit submit or something.

There is a nice mod that anyone can do with probably any type of motor mount. I was concerned that it wouldn't be possible with RWD mounts until i just did it. I've done it lots of time with FWD mounts though. They are more straight forward because they have have gapping holes in them that are asking to be filled. The RWD mounts you have to be a little more artistic in your ability to fill around them. The tranny mount is straight forward though.

Go to your favorite autoparts store such as Autozone, Advance, Kragen, whatever you have where you live and get 3M window weld. It's a black silicone substance that cures to a nice firm rubbery type compound. Cut the tip large and fill in the tranny mount and fill around the plates in the two engine mounts and use pieces of cardboard to sculpt the Window weld in and around the mounts. Then let them cure for a day or so, or better yet bake them in an oven around 150 degrees over night.

I've often wondered how these treated mounts compare with the Nismo mounts that you can buy. Be forewarned you will receive a lot more NVH throughout the cabin of the car and things will rattle and shake. I wonder how the stiffness Vs. NVH compares with filled mounts Vs the Nismo mounts. I know my filled mounts feel great. The engine does not flop to one side when I blip the gas which I hated tremendously.

Anway here's pics...

screw all that.My driver side mount was in 2 so I just ordered URAS motor mounts instead. They are awesome plus they tilt the motor slightly to the driver side. These combined with the urethane tranny mount from SPLparts = way too hardcore for most

I love it:D
Pretty sure the stock mounts tilt the motor slightly to the driver's side. Filling the mounts does add quite a bit of NVH though, but you gotta appreciate it to like it :) How are the Nismo mounts? Anyone got any input?

Who makes a good torque damper?

That would do something very similar right?

what about engine tilt

I saw a 350Z with an SR20DET and the motor was driver tilted like mad!

Had to be at least 10degrees

I hear that you can just get a universal tq damper and it works fine. If anyone can provide a link of where to pick up some decent ones though I'd jump on that. I was told to just get em off Ebay. I seldom see them on there though.

My drivers side mount is in two as we speak. Think the Window Weld will work? Maybe I'll get the welder out and have a little fun.:) I'm dreading buying the Nismos.
