wow.
i'm really amazed at you guys who are doing 70mph street drifts.
thats pretty nuts
3rd gear stuff... middle of third gear at that.

i'm pretty much calling bullshit on 99% of the people who said they have.

that's why i crashed, i initiated 10 feet too late. about 5 feet before the apex is when i let the clutch out and started sliding. i went through the apex completly sideways at 70 full counterlock full break cause i knew i was screwed. my friend was watching from the next turn and he said as soon as i initiated he was runnin for his car cause he could tell i started too late for the speed i was at. i had another member of this forum in the car with me but i don't know his name in the forum. i'll see if i can get him to do a post so you understand a little better of what happend. he may have been payin a little better atentiion to other things besided the whole part when i said oh shit as i initiated. if you've ever drifted an open diff on the streets you'll understand what i'm talkin about.

re

personally I like drifting in the rain the most cause its less wear on my car, but either way at my fav spot I will go in at about 3-4k in 3rd gear, drop it to second to get the initial rear end lift feint it about 20 feet before the turn to the left then jolt right and drift for who knows how long. I guess you would consider it more of a power slide since it is not initiated way before the turn but either way is fun. I think the most fun little drift I did was late night at a parking lot it was raining and I was in second or high 1st I Forget to be honest, and I just hit the ebrake and did a full u turn drift around a good 30 - 40 foot space between the two roads and the building, was really fun. would love to enter a comp if I could find any near san diego.

I just put a Nismo 2 way LSD in my car, so I never pay attention to the speed any more just the RPM's and where I'm pointed, but I know I've been hitting those turns a lot faster then I used to with the open diff, I feel a lot more confident with the LSD, I think I need new tires now......

in fact I did. ANd I crashed into a curb too. Not 70mph thou. Got a vlsd in asap, and waiting for a 2 way when I get extra money.

"Awwwe dude, i just like totally did this insane dori-dori-boro-super-crazy-master drift at like 235 mph and almost takked, it was sick"

No, i don't brag about saying "yeah i drift", i actually tell people that drifting is gay, just to get them off my back. And no, im not the greatest at drifting, And Yes, i do "drift" on the streets, AND YES i do do it where there is about a 1% chance im gonna get caught or kill someone. I'm responsible with how i drive, the problem is, i hear people saying that they did a accidental 60mph braking drift in a residnetial area, THATS NOT COOL. Also people saying they do 70 mph drifts on onramps an shit, thats fucking dangerous as shit, that pavement is so unconsistent and ridden with oil and debris... Good Luck Rook.

if you drift., do it because you have control, not because you want to impress something or brag about how you "dont know how to control your car".

Fuck, i donno,im getting damn good with a clutchkick, brake drifting (I blow at) and im not afraid to admit it, i can sometimes pull a feint if i have a large enough plot of land (like an old factory lot) and im sure as soon as i put this kaaz 2way in it will help dramatically. i have fun with drifting, because no matter how good i try and get, there will always be someone better. im not competetive really, well, i guess i am, just not enough to talk shit on the forums because ill be willign to bet....

50% of you are better than i am
20% suck more than me
30% talk like they "drift" and don't

fuck the fastest drift, whats the best looking drift you've done (hard to do without pics), anyone can push a clutch in and let it out while entering a corner, tell ME about a 100 foot Brake drift that you did perfect finally after practicing it in a safe environment for a week straight. then i'll be impressed

thats not true... althought i see your point, speed definetly plays a factor! just because im at a 48 degree angle with full counter doesnt mean all that much when i exit the turn at 25mph! anyhoo :smacked49

I think the fastest drift i have ever completed is in the low 50's on tarmac with a feint, but on a touge i like the stick in the high 30's to low 40's faster than that and my skills crumble... i think it has alot to do with my vehicle! My favorite technique is the clutch kick and least would have to be the braking drift...(it just seems reckless and hard on my stock brake setup although it is also the least practiced of my skills)

sideways at 70
wow i hope your alright! maybe you should consider organ donation! gutsiest move ive ever seen mav....

WhiteWarrenG i think you need you take a zanex because you are to wound up about this. Calm down dude. Anywho I think the fastest Ive gone is 55-60, 3rd gear at drift showoff. Ive imporved since then though. My friend brian is actually really good at drifting on onramps, better there than on the track for some reason. hmmm

lol. this thread is funny. i cant even brake drift and ive been too 2 driftdays.... lol

i tihnk its really sick when people exit at faster speeds than they enetr. i rode along with this guy in a carrolla named mark, (warreng you prob know him, mark x..coupe red..) he did entire onramps and gained speed throughout the drifts, he was amazing, i didnt even know cars could do that...

that's what made keiichi so popular.

65 mph with my friend screaming in the back seat. i was origionally just going to take that corner to test my new suspension, but when a jeep came around i got ino the other lane, cornered hard, tapped the brake, dropped the end out and got pretty much sideways until i pulled it out near the end of the corner.

when i had my old bald tires when it rained, i could start from a dead stop and slide for about 25 feet on a left turn from a stop sign. god that was fun... dangerous to drive, considering every time it rained i hydroplaned whenever i went over 5 mph. but fun.

hey sdtouge, in brake drifting dont you need a very balanced (front to back) car? thats the style i'd really like to learn in my 240 hatch but my entire interior is gutted to the max, how do i compensate?

that makes sense so you can have themost weight transfer possible.

when you said thats whats makes keichi famous, i was like wtf? he cant brake drift?lol

Well, i was coming home from work on balder tires and i was traveling at about 70. It had been raining and and temps dropped. Water turned to ice and i was traveling along a very wide sweeping turn on the highway. Car starts coming out slowly so i slowy steer into it. I never look at the speedo but i was out of the go pedal and it actually felt like i was gaining speed. I slide not really drifted for what seemed to be a frickin 1/8 mile. As the car started to come back to neutral my DAMN hicas rear steered causing it to go back the other way. Next thing i know, i had completed a 360 and slid off the road partialy. One of the most fucked up driving moments ever.
Ok, that really wasn't drifting but it was in a way.

i think more weight up formnt would give more oversteer, yunno, the back end would come out easier, you know, less grip on it... i dont know, it just makes sense...

get a ca18det and cf hood and slivia front, then you should have like 50/50ish with your gutted interoir...

i already have the ca, but with all that weight in the front and so little in the rear it causes a lot of understeer, i'm going to try and use the e-brake as i enter the turn to loosten the back end out and the spin the wheels. i can get it to oversteer but if i come flying into a corner and try and whip the back end around its really difficult. i need to do some tire swaping and get my best traction up front to keep it stuck.

and sdtouge whats that about keiichi not being able to brake drift?
he thought that was what i meant, cuz i accidentally included that in my quote. but yea keiichi can gain speed in a drift i read somewhere.
