It's not a pocket key maker you enter the VIN into, some have the list of vins and keycodes more than likely...once they match the vin to the code they cut the key, it's a simple process really and why there are chipped keys now along with different styles of keys rather than the typical 'toothed' key. This information shouldn't be so easily available, but asshats working at the dealerships make it real.

They had a thing on hard copy or a similar show where a lady called a bunch of dealerships stating she was locked out of her car (really a vehicle that didn't belong to her)...none of the dealerships turned her down and most made her the key free. The policy on this is usually a registration/title document must be provided to prove ownership. oh well.
