it's easier to tear down a KA tranny and rebuild it then the SR tranny (my buddy with 3 RX-7's did the teardown on both for his buddy's Nissan Hardbody pickup), so even if the gear ratios are the same, if i need to rebuild whichever tranny im using, i'd rather do it on a KA.
plus, i like to hoard parts.

the gear ratio on the SR/KA trannys s13/s14 are exactly the same.. i looked them up myself a while ago. i think im the one that told casey last sem that they are exactly the same ratio wen he was looking to change his tranny. jes rebuild your SR tranny rather thant spending more money on gettin another tranny and then rebuilding it. it not that hard to rebuild manual trannies matt.. i shud know.. ive rebuilt a few back home and in class. u may be lookin for an easy way of doin things but moeny wise ur probably goin to spend more

yeah, but buying a tranny means i can throw it in right away without having to waste time rebuilding it, then i can rebuild the "broken" tranny while still being able to drive my car.

Hey what's up everyone... still a meet on Tuesday night? Seeing as it's our 'finals prep' day and all, I know we'll all be busy studying...

Regarding the M/T build: do you need an arbor/hydr. press to push out any of the gears/bearings? I'v considering rebuilding my backup 5spd, but just wondering what type of 'special' tools I'd need. Anything exotic?

As for this trans. bullshit, here's how we solve it: strip a KA trans and a SR trans down and take off the bellhousings. Put them side by side and have Matt tear them apart and tell us which is which. Anyone got a spare SR tranny to use for the experiment, cause i know we have a few KA trannies we can use....or we could have a ringer and use 2 KA trannies to illustrate the point.... :smacked49

Tyler, are you still selling the seats? I'm pretty broke, i can do $250 for the drivers seat/slider/harness... let me know if thats doable, and how soon you'd be able to get your factory seat back in...do you have them up here with you or are they back home?

ha, sucks to be all u.... all i have are four 4-week auto classes, so i dont have finals, just classes til the end. i'll take that over finals though.

i dont have finals...just a presentation next monday....and matt if i recall, all automotive calsses end with a final.....even th its just an 8 week class, there is stilla final , just like my 6 other classes had finals, but they were through the semester as the classes ended.
and tomarrow niht im down to meet also...i threw away my SR tranny, sorry brian...it was trash, really beat to shit.

Hey I don't mean to step on anybody's feet here, but I know someone that's interested in your red hatch. If you need the money quick, he's can have it by the end of this week. He'll probably pay more than it's worth too(shh..). I don't really know him, but he's been bugging me to find him a 240(over AIM). He's from Hughesville, about 20mins out. Since I don't know the details about your sale, here's his info. I told him I'd give his contact info to you, do what you want with it(or nothing). Just trying to help your sale along.

With that said I do have one seat left...$180 takes it...arthur whored up the other harness so thats gone too...only thing left other than the seat is the MOMO steering wheel w/ adapter for $180 also....later fellas

Just got back from the inagural test drive with the new Corbeau (thank you Tyler) and WOW....i think my eyeballs will get sucked out of their sockets before i move around in that seat....i'll post some pics up tomorrow. The install took 2 1/2 hours and that includes some time spent cleaning the car and removal of the old seat belts. Plus I wasnt working too hard. Anyways, the only problem i have now is the height of the seat (i fit, but i have about 1 1/2" between me and the headliner), but i'm going to look into getting a seat bracket instead of the slider to drop it down a few inches....i'll have to buy one or have one fabbed....will let y'all know as this one unfolds.

IIRC, Tyler said you could use another brand's bracket to drop it down. Was it Recaro? I didn't realize you could use other mfg's brackets. Anyways it would save you the trouble of fabbing one.

wanna sell your S14 stock seat? Mine is pretty damn warn, anything is better than this... Give me a ring if you're interested, even if it is only one seat. Might help you afford to buy the other one(and sell me two!!). I *think* I'll need the slider too...
