Scrap steel prices are way up right now. If you strip it and take them clean steel I wouldn't be suprised if you got a couple of hundred for it. You might also consider small claims court. Contrary to popular belief, "as is" doesn't mean the guy can defraud you by intentionally concealing major defects. In fact, there are many laws that deal with non-disclosure of things like salvage titles and what not. I'd talk to a lawyer.

i sold it to him, we should both talk to a lawyer, lol.
it wouldn't be worth it. lawyer would get all the money in the end. i worked in the courts for a year or so, and learned how things go very quickly. there's a reason lawyers don't see mcdonald's much...and it's called "profit percentage."
lawyers can get the majority of any settlement (esp. smaller ones), and i'd sue for the $3500 i spent on the car, and give dave $800 or so, back.

btw, dave, i don't need the rear bumper anymore, pulled mine off this morning and pushed the dent out, looks pretty damn close to new now.
if you'd like to send me the PS resevoir and oil pump, that'd be cool though.
i'm removing the hicas stuff this weekend, and i'd like the above parts to replace my stock ones eventually.

nice avatar dave. ok when we talk about a scrap metal yard what are we talking about? a junkyard or what? theres a place in town. maryland metals that i think will take it. i have an entire junk engine in my garage i figured i could get something for and i need to get rid of. any ideas?

fartbox - i dont think i want to spend the time to make it clean steel, i just want it off my hands and if i get enough to get some pizza or something, great. and i wouldn't do any sueing, i needed a car and alan helped me out, i dont have a problem with him. he got me back on the street with a car i actually want to drive, and now with this situation i get to have my old car back and running and have tons of spare parts. i think i came out pretty good all and all.

raen419 - the resevior wont be a problem, and i have the oil pump(sump and all) out of my old car. whats wrong with the ones you have? would you need brackets and all? i could send those with the headlight motor

ch1873857 - larry has acouple boxes of copper he wants me to drop off at a scrap yard, i need to ask him where it is and if they take cast iron and steel(which they probably do), and we could just rent one of those home depot trucks and haul all of it.

oh and i've decided im not going to paint the engine bay considering that car will never look "good" so why waste all my time doing that, i'll powerwash it and fix the rust then be done with it.

the hicas oil pump has 2 outlets for PS fluid, one for the actual PS, the other for the hicas PS lines. i have a bolt in it now (since i disabled the hicas lines), but i really don't trust it, and i'd like to replace eventually. and i also want the PS resevoir so i don't have to plug that line (for the hicas) for a long time too. i'd rather replace it, trust it, and be done with it.

btw, pulling hicas subframe and putting 180sx non-hocas frame on tomorrow. wish me luck guys, this could be an all day ordeal...lol.

wait, do you need the ps pump or the oil pump? you've confused me... good luck on the swap though, did you replace the bushings in the 180sxsubframe or are you sticking it in as-is? i think i remember you saying you are putting spacers on

yeah, i bought some spacers from SPL. next up, ruca's...tired of -7 camber in the rear, lol.
need PS resevoir (pump, whatever people call it) and oil pump.

haha, ok so you need the oil pump(located behind the crank pulley inside the engine), the ps pump(located above a/c unit, to the right of the water pump) and the ps resevior(where you pour the ps fluid into the system). just getting it straight, i didnt think the hicas had anything to do with the oil pump

hey dave. let me know about the scap metal. i think i found a trailer we can use for all of our hauling needs. they said i can use it for my front clip too so. youll have to give me a call sometime this weekend or next week so we can get the 92 prepped. how much do you have left to do?

sorry dude, on the hicas diagram (in FSM) it said "oil pump, so no, i wasn't thinking properly. so technically i would need PS pump and resevoir, and of course that headlight motor (pass. side).
btw guys, did subframe swap yesterday....ON MY OWN. yes, one man, swapping subframes....what a pain, spent 8 hours doing it. but hey, no more useless steering rack!
ended up having to swap the wheel bearing out though, that's what took me so long. then swapped everything else over, ang used a tranny jack to get the damn thing back into place, then installed subframe spacers....car feels better. now i just need another alignment (damnit....)

Scrap metal here in California is only about $60/ton, so going by that you would get about $60 for the car. I work at a metal fab shop and we just give our scrap to a guy. At least it wont be in your front yard.

can this trailer be used for multiple occasions? and do we have a truck or would we need to rent one? and hey keep this coming weekend free if you want to come over and help. i still need to get new brake pads, clutch, and misc. fluids for the swap. the interior is almost cleaned out of all the engine parts, and i've decided to swap the gas tanks when we do the engine so i wont have to deal with 8month old gas. the thing i'm most worried about is trying to find that tapping noise, i hope its just the timing chain guide and not something serious. but if stuff goes wrong and it takes us longer than expected my sister just got a 98 VR6 jetta, so i wont be without transportation.

and you gotta come by the shop and see your hatch, its almost perfect

alright, now its making sense. i couldnt understand what hicas had to do with the oil. and awesome job on the swap, you should have asked me to help i could use another greyhound bustrip :greddy: is it a very noticable difference with the spacers?
