me too
gotta go to work in 30 min....damnit
i hate working nights.
btw, todd, the KA was destroked so it would rev to 8k w/o any issues. it's redline was actually 8500, but anyway.
k20a's stroke and ka's stroke are very different.

man i'm fucking bored. i guess tomorrow i'll head to home depot to hunt for some ducting for this intake/brake duct idea. that or i'll blow it off and head over to brandon's...

i think ill start pullin a ka tomorrow...so that i can drop in another one...tons of fun, right?

no you guys missed my point, iKnow it wouldve made it more tame, that was my point. so it`d last longer. just pushing less power. destroking is probably a good idea on the KA, but 11.6 and 8000 iDon`t think would be. 11.0/11.1:1 CR would be as far up as i`d go on a KA if iWanted it to last more than half a year. That one only made it halfway to half a year, after all. i`d be willing to bet that a DE built right, similarly to that one but with a few compromises made for longevity, could easily teach an s2000 a few things. how much tq does the F series motor put out and over how much of the revvband? shame, shame. in the end, none of it is enough to pose any threat to the turbo cars out there. maybe if nissan had started out building cycles to get some experience with super high revving engines and put that knowledge into its car heads, things might be different, eh? I`d be afraid of losing the Z (and thus S) cars if it had worked out like that though. Anyway... nobody`s explained to me how C went from a gold CA coupe to a red KA one...

c didnt have a gold coupe.he had a gold hatch which i have now.me and c made a swap for my ca clip and other stuff for his hatch and some stuff.and he now has a red coupe which is getting the ca out of my old clip.

Sean remember something that hasn't really come up which is probably one of the most important issues is head design and flow. Just because you "build" a head or p&p it doesn't mean it will flow well. On a turbo car this is less important because you have a air pump to push air. On NA you rely on the natural pump (the motor) to do the work. Flow has a lot to due with runner length (intake and head runner combined), runner size, surface (polished, dimpled, grooved, cast), as well as port angle. For instance I know that some/most of the honda motors open one intake valve before the other to start a swirling motion in the combustion chamber. Also a lot of porters leave the combustion chamber and intake runners in the head with a slight texture to promote atomization.

Oh well you probably know most of this but it just kind of came out.

Oh and I don't see how compression ratio really would hurt a motor that much if it wasn't detonating. I mean a ka with 12-13:1 should run find as long as the tune is there to support it. I think the revs/stroke are what did that motor in.

Alright enough of this sissy NA stuff. Who wants to see Todd blow up his SR on 32psi of T4 turbo action.

thanks for the update, is it Jason, right? Sean here, as if you didn`t know with all the attention iGet around here...

T, yeah that`s what iWas talkin about with the motorcycle experience stuff at the end of the last post, if nissan had started with small high revv engines like honda, maybe the KA would flow a lot better before it gets to the blow-up phase, but we might not have all these nice big burly nissan sports cars cause they`d all be tiny engined and torqueless.

At any rate, iAgree with the comp/stoke danger, though i`d still run 11 at the most for heat output and octane usability. Especially if it`s gonna be the same DD iUse to drive to school everyday and a few hundred miles to my grandparents every now and again.

Yes, yes, let`s get some vid or something of an sr flying around on 30+ psi.

and what`s up with all you bham area whiate boiyeez?

You have a s13 again?
no sir...im buying one within the week tho...
you remember spensers s14, the greenish/blueish one with dt05r's, he was at the autox? anyway, he sold it to some guy, and something inside the motor broke, so im puttin another motor in it this week....

nope, buyin an s13 coupe, just puttin a motor in the s14 for the guy, the same guy that im buyin the s13 from

ok, just got back from buddy's apartment (friend of mine and sara's). took him for a ride in my car, w/ coils all the way up....he now regrets buying his prokit springs....hahaha
anyway, going to help brent POSSIBLY get his ka running tomorrow. he's having some issue w/ the egr not screwing into the header or something along those lines.

jesse, let me know when you know that the other KA came w/ a mafs. i want/need s14 mafs asap.

brent`s still not running? and iThought iWas the only one with these longterm KA engine troubles. He doesn`t wanna just do the delete on that spent-gas-recirculator piece?

man what i`d give to have a nice, new,(and above all) running vq under my hood. I wouldn`t be concerned with you guys having stiffer suspension than me then. When do you use them, after all? probably kill the distribution though.

Are you mad?? When do I not use them?

they use them every single day..........it holds the car up. and im willing to bet that they're in use right now as well. dont hate b/c certian people dont go out every night to drift or drive hard or even drive. when i had my teins, i never once took it to the track, nor did i ever take it on some spirited driving down the curvey roads or w/e. and i still think that i got a ton of use out of my coilovers before i sold them and i dont regret getting them at all. moral of the story, just b/c you have something and dont use it to its full potential doesnt mean that you're not enjoying it. look at a show car for instance. they're never driven, yet sometimes could be the fastest car out there. and i am sure that the owner is enjoying what they're doing w/ the car, even if it never hits the streets.

ok...im done w/ my rant. i am just sick of hearing about how people dont "use" their toys. they're their's and let them do what they want with them.
