OK im just about out of ideas on how to get this thing to fit right. I just picked up the GT2871R (86.A/R) and mounted it to the Megan manifold. Ive searched these forums for answers multiple times and i have not seen any similiar installation problems with this turbo. Im still running internally gated and i cannot figure out how im supposed to angle the compressor outlet so that its facing the strut tower more, Ive tried mounting the actuator bracket in all 3 different positions onto the comp. housing and i can only get it to face straight down, towards the block, or up at an angle that hits the primaries on the manifold. This morning i tried ovaling out the mounting holes on the bracket so that i could rotate the actuator a couple more degrees to try and get more space in between the actuator nipple and the comp housing. and i think its still gonna be to close. so any help from others with this turbo would greatly help. is it possible to have the actuator shaft at a slight angle connecting to the wastegate flapper? or is that just asking for more trouble? O and another question, I went with the TAKA turbo lines and i am curious as to where the hell im supposed to thread in the back water line from the turbo to the old hard line that runs around to the back of tha block and over the trans. case. I know this sounds confusing as hell but thats because it is! haha, so please any advise on the fitment and installation of this turbo would be greatly appreciated. O yea its a s14 with S13 red top thanks guys

I also have the same turbo, but External gated..

But I haven’t got it yet,
lol waiting for my T3 turbin housing to get done.
And the compressor housing to get polishing.

But I hope not to have any problems
I have a peakboost manifold, and downpipe.
And I have a TiAL 38mm wastegate with a Peakboost DumbTube

sounds like the manifold is making everything close. My buddy just went with the full race manifold and it was also close with something in the engine bay, i cant remember what exact it is right now but i know things where pretty close.

I have the same spec turbo but with the stock mani. i clocked the turbo so i could fit the wastegate but let me know if your wastegate actually opens. i was told being that i have a .86 a/r the turbo is to big for the wastegate. so now i said fuck it and am just doing external. If i were you bro i would convert it to external wastegate you will be much more happier. just my .02 cents

thanks for all the responses guys... i just decided to go and make myself a new actuator bracket, and so far it looks as if everything is going to work out, but it will be a tight fit. What did u guys do for the comp. inlet pipe? did u just use a silicone reducer or what? does Greddy have an intake pipe kit that would fit? i wanna keep my Blitz SUS filter to. Thanks again for all the help!

i welded a 90 on my compressor .. in the pic you can see ! so i could clock it towards my strut tower away from the manifold! i clocked everyhing like stock so the oil return line would be the same and so the stock water and oil lines would work .. as far as your water line you have to tap into your water neck that your upper radiator hose goes on.. in my case i used a fwd sr20de nexk and cut and reclocked it .. because the stock srdet stuck out to far towards my radiator. .. well in a smaller car of course in a 240 you have plenty of radiator to valve cover space. .. :)

i believe greddy makes a 90* pipe just for that. if im not mistaken, megan may make one as well but my memory sucks so dont take that to heart. i also agree that you should run external but what do i know?

Wow! thanx for the pix guys! Twistex... I ended up mounting the turbo in the same exact position! i just didnt use the welded on 90* bend. I like your silicone compressor inlet coupling. Where did u get it? Any body wanna give some ideas or pics of how they ran the 2 3/4" inlet piping? I would like to have my filter mounted close to the stock mounting area. I wanna try and keep this as clean looking as possible. Thanks again everybody for all the input! O and one more thing... anybody in here using the Innovate LM-1? How is this setup and are there any install problems? thanx...

im sure if you wanted to use the stock piping that you could just run a 3-2.5" reducer and get a 45" bend to attach the two.
But I have a question for you.
What mafs and injectors are you running? The gt2871r will max out both fairly quickly and I would reccomend upgrading to a z32 mafs and 550cc or higher injectors. If you run a 300zx mafs you can just get a 45* 3" coupler about 1.5' of 3" pipe and another coupler and thats basically what i did.

right now ive got the nismo 555cc injectors but i am still on the stock MAF, i am hopfully upgrading to the Z32 MAF within the next month or two. Any suggestions on what I should keep the boost at until I upgrade the sensor? Im still on the stock head gasket and from searching it looks like its about 10-12 psi witout an upgraded head gasket. Im having the hot pipe and comp. inlet pipes made right now at a local shop. So hopefully it will be running this weekend if not then early next week... any guess' on hp? haha, with just exhaust & intercooler i only put down 186 to the wheels which i still think is kida low, it was however still on 7 psi, soo lets hear some guess' !

I ran my motor up to 16psi on the stock headgasket, z32 mafs and 750cc injectors. The headgasket didnt show any signs of damage when I rebuilt my motor.
I dynoed 270hp @ 14psi on the .64.
I wouldnt reccomend more than the base psi until you upgrade the mafs and get a ecu tune.
