I'm not tryin' to hate or anything here.. but how come people rip on the "cheap wide wheels" for being 28lbs at 18x9.5 but not these since they are only 3lbs less and more than likely the same quality?
I mean, c'mon, the only difference is a little better offset, and 3lbs per wheel.. People were going psycho about the other wheels being so bad because of their weight etc.. But they post in this thread saying these wheels are good.
Sorry, just an observation of mine. I've been following the other "cheap wide wheels" threads for a while and keepin' my tongue on a tight rope, haha. Not trying to start any war, I'm just curious what these people have to say since these wheels are pretty much the equiv of the others except for noted SLIGHT differences.

^^^ proper offset is a big deal, massive lip, those cheap rims are ugly and gay/shitty ebay quality, im pretty sure the rims above could take a curb or 2, those ebay ones would just explode

I don't consider the ebay ones ugly and gay, thats a matter of taste/opinion.
But as for the quality, can you honestly tell me you know for a fact that the cheap TSW wheels are high quality? From what I've seen they are a very low end wheel, nothing to write home to mom about ya know? I think SportMax and TSW are in the same arena quality wise. I'm surpised these offsets were found with the TSW wheels since on the TSW site is only shows offsets of around 40.. But then again I was looking for 4x114.3 that might have been my problem (93 240sx owner here). I dunno. The main thing I was curious about was why these wheels weren't being bashed for their weight being 25lbs whereas the SportMax wheels are 28lbs. Every wheel I've ever seen that weighs over 20lbs besides these ones have been bashed heavily.

Just to add to the conversation to put things in perspective Gram Light 57 pros 17x8 are 20lbs and 17x9 are 23lbs. Considering mine are an inch bigger and only 2 pounds more than a wheel that has light in the name I think they are ok.

sportmax's 18x8.5 are 33 lbs roughly, 18x9.5 are 36 lbs.
that's a heavy ass wheel. so not worth the money.
17x9 are like 25-28 lbs.

not to mention the offsets suck.
smart people (who know what to look for) won't bother w/ those wheels...but for people who see size and offset, and don't think about quality...will buy anything.

I hate to keep posting cuz I don't wanna sound like I'm arguing, but can you show me where you got 33lbs for 18x8.5 and 36lbs for 18x9.5? From what I've found on multiple sites is 28lbs for either of them. If they were 33lbs/36lbs I would definately agree on the weight overkill.
And also onto the quality.. Like I mentioned before, TSW and Sportmax are in the same quality arena... Unless you can show me otherwise?

I'm not trying to argue, I'm really looking for some good facts here because I'll be purchasing wheels in the not to far off future so I'm doing a few months of research first while I save up money. Thanks for the help and for your replies! I hope this isn't considered a thread jack :smacked49

I don't know how I can show you that the quality of the TSW's is better but they seem to be a very well built wheel and the finish is absolutely flawless on all 4 wheels. The polished lip is clearcoated and I couldn't find a single blemish on any of them.

huh.....wierd....
ok here's what i know...

back about 3 months ago, when the sportmax's first hit ebay, the 18" staggered steup was listed as 33.4 lbs for the 8.5, and 36 lbs for the 9.5. i just looked on ebay a minute ago to show you the link, but now they're listed as 28.8 lbs for the 8.5 and 28.0 lbs for the 9.5.

ok,
problem #1: when did these wheels go on a diet?
#2: how does a wider wheel weigh less?
#3: since everyone has these now, SOMEONE WEIGH THEM W/O TIRES.

bottom line....something's wrong... ebay suppliers are getting the wrong info on their listings, making up BS, or just don't know what the hell they're doing.

now i'd like to know the truth...since something doesn't add up.

lol @ raen

That's some pretty good info and doesn't suprise me that they are different like that. I too would like to see someone who already owns them weigh them, that'd solve all the weight problems regarding them. I'll start a thread requesting this ;)

edit: Oh yeah, raen... You listed the same auction twice :p
