What years is early, ??? like 88, im not sure when they made the first one.
doesnt matter best bet is to go by part numbers

Im a little scared the walls will be too thin so im planning on going with a 2.6 bore.....

People have bored it to 2.5 without sleeving. I think 2.6 requires sleeving and I don't think 2.7 is possible.
