hey i dont want u to be mad at me, my friend was browsing while logged onto my account, so he said that shit, honostly i didnt see it until like 5 mins ago when i was looking to see if he'd posted. BTW where did u get the piping? what speed shop around here, millenium?

my ass your "friend" logged on. you're just a fucking coward is all there is to it. yes this is a cheap setup, sure it looks "ghetto". but if it works for him, and he's happy just stfu already. whens the last time you did something DIY?

and on another note, i saw the leaf blower video..funny shit.

acutally he didnt login, i always check keep me logged in, so all he had to do was just connect to the site from my bookmarks. So i really dont give a shit if anyone believes me, but i do give Puresx credit for being very creative by putting it down so low, btw is your car lowered? cause if not then you might have clearence issues. Lets get a video clip of it running to hear what it sounds like...

holy ghetto. haven't you heard "anything worth doing is worth doing well"? not to flame, but.. jesus. battery's just thrown over there, pipe comes off the TB at a crazy angle, filter's just hanging inches off the ground, etc etc etc... good start, but.. damn, clean it up, man.

ok, well if ur a cheap bastard, then just get teh cold air extension and route it teh same way, but put a fucking bypass valve on and dont be as carlos mencia says RETARTED!!! and put teh filter right near your tire, plus its out in the elements, thats the dumbest thing i've ever seen in my life, and last year i helped at teh senior citizins olympics, its like teh special olympics, but for old people, and they made more sense than this dumb shit. If you do this mod, then you must not be cheap cause i guarentee you that eventually you'll fuck something up seriously and it'll cost way more than the $250 or so it costs for the full injen setup.
Shut up. I'm not being mean i'm just saying move on w/ your life and realize that he put hard work into an intake which i would put on my Ka before and injen. Sry i'm just not a fan of the design.

this is funny.
you dont REALLY think your making power by getting COLD air into the intake right?
the power you get from getting air that isnt like...5deg. above ambient form inside the hood is at the most like... .5 hp.(thats a HALF a horsepower). cold air intakes dont get their power from cold air. its just called that for marketing BS. they get thier power from resonance and intake air velocity. smaller pipe = faster intake velocity but could choke the intake at higher rpm's.
longer pipes can also help ram air into the plenum. also the trick is to balance out the intake valve pulses so that a + pulse reaches the inatake valve when it opens.

now...a stock 240Sx intake prolly sucks the bigone. so anything you do will help hp.
but you did it the wrong way. making the air go 2 feet straight up is not helping velocity. also. that big ass bend...1.) its to much bend. 2.) i hope its atleast mandrel.

another thing that really matters is the adapter that goes from the MAF to the piping. if it doesnt line up the air will fuck up at the measuring point = not good.

just some helpfull tips to get you on the right track.
if you can get it in the fender = BETTER.
if the air doesnt have to go up or make hard bends = BETTER
DO NOT get pipe bigger than 3" thats even pushing it. a better size would 2-3/4
get a good adapter. make one if you have to.
go to the dyno with the liongest pipe setup you came up with. then dyno 2 times. then cut 1/4 " off the pipe. redyno. repeat untill best power you find. then sell your kit and make big$$$

cheers.

and you guys need to stop being such bitches. at least he tried. what the hell have you done to YOUR car?)

No shit, nice job on the CAI.. I hope you make another one so you can show these bitches up. And the people bitching, show us YOUR better design. :smacked49

nice job on the CAI. I thought about it and suggested that similar design to my friend with a KA. Noticable top end gain?

also, i would suggest putting the MAF slightly higher and closer to the throttle body so i wouldn't risk damaging it. It'll be like a blow through setup on an NA car rofl.

Ok.....Heres an update.....Ive drove through a monsoon, for about well 3 days now, had absolutely no problems, noticed a huge gain in mid-upper powerband, throttle responce is faster than my drive by wire spec-V.... I admit its ghetto but its just a play motor for me.... I wouldnt suggest this to anyone who has a weak grasp of what a CAI actally does, This is not to draw in cold air but to change the density of the charge to make more velocity, the ambient temp. will more than likely be the same no matter what but cold air has less friction creating more velocity until it hit peak ambient temp. With this said, I tried a 3" setup it wasnt as good as the 2.5" setup I have on it now....

Tha battery was later strapped down with a motorcycle battery strap. The engine runs great and as said before no problems with water, the filter has since been shielded and moved up about 2" Waf being half and half through the hole cut in the battery tray.

Thanks for all the critisism and thanks to those who didnt, No-one knows until it is tried and im just not affraid of trying.....

Thanks...
