I dont know if any of you guys gone to their website but from what i see those guys do know how to make a ka24de-t really fast. If any body has gone with them do you know how much will they charge for a turbo kit on a 92 240sx
 
This is an email response I had from Dennis DTEC. BYP seems very knowlegeable and helpful:

Ok.. thanks for checking out the website! Well.. I
can;t give you a direct answer.. cause it's a vague
subject. For starters.. the average "bolt-on" turbo
kit for the KA is $5,000.00. We do custom work here..
which means that the car will have to be here in our
hands.. to make the manifold, plubming, etc. labor
for a 240SX turbocharged is $3,500.00.. which covers
installation and fabrication of all that is needed.
The additional will depend on what performace you
want. Full out drag or everyday streetability. Also,
what accessories you want.. manual boost controller,
or electronic? These all depend on you.. as we keep
everything of choice to the customer. Average 315
RWHP at 10 psi is about $6,500.00 out the door.
Please review our website again.. and check out the
modifications list of each 240SX driver. you can get
an idea of what is needed.. and from what you will
want to go with. once you have done that.. then give
Harry Turbo a call at 305-249-4979 concerning your
performance needs and appointment scheduling.

I think BYP's work is one of the best in Miami. I'm in love with their yellow 240sx/skyline just like everyone else down here. They gave me a lil higher price though when I asked about boosting my single cam. I take it "SSDwellah" you probbaly work there. Would you happen to know how much just for the manifold on my sohc?
 
Yes it does include labor plus don't compare 315rwhp to 400hp at least compare rwhp to rwhp because with a 15% average drivetrain loss 315rwhp is about 370hp at the crank anyway. And your hypothetical 400hp with a 15% drive train loss is about 340rwhp, really not much better considering the higher boost it requires and the loss in low end torque compared to a turbo KA. Plus you'd probably be boosting at 17 psi plus... this "quote" was only at 10psi, which is still a long way to go without very exotic internals and sacrificing daily drivability. I've said all I had to say about that, there are plenty of KA vs. SR threads whether it be about performance, price, longevity, ease of maintenance etc... it's been covered.

BTW not to single them out but here's a quote from Heavy Throttle's install page for a redtop SR20DET install just to give you an idea... $6128 a lot cheaper huh?!? And it sure as hell won't make 400hp out of the box like that. Well you're entitle to your own opinion but if you go broke or get spanked by a KA don't say i didn't warn you :)
 
BYP

BYP is a mixed bag to me. When they first arrived on the scene @ NICO their local "GT Revva" was an ignorant person who didn't seem to competent at anything except keyboard racing. Constant arguements about their 240 vs a Honda. Nontheless after being warned and then complaining about the mods and the way things worked, he got banned.

I read more posts on a tercel messageboard from "GT Revva" which solidified the fact to me he was ignorant.

On the other hand, Boost_Boy @ NICO has had excellent manifolds made by "Harry Turbo" of BYP which looked good and showed hard proof they actually do something.
 
GT Revva is the toyota specialist so I think that he probably doesn't know much about nissan (but then he shouldn't talk sh*t). Dennis DTEC and Harry Turbo are nice and very helpful and knowledgable. I think some of the guys from BYP are just too emotional because they used to get in a lot flame wars on forums (I think there were even some here). Although often times other people start them and they were just defending themselves but when you own a company you gotta be a little bit more professional and careful in your response. The customer is always right (even if he is a dickhead) :)
