i did it and had no prior experience in transmissions. you'll need to find a CA bellhousing which can be sourced from a junkyard out of a 84-88 200sx. this will probably be the hardest part because you need to take the tranny off then take the bellhousing off the tranny all while in this junkyard, unless you just want to pay for the whole transmission and not just the bellhousing and do the rest of the work at home. The FSM has pretty good details about seperating the two, but basically
*remove the screws from gearbox to bellhousing
*use a punch or anything to drive out the 2 metal dowels aligning gearbox and bellhousing
*remove shifter, then remove shifter ball detents on each side
*use a small nail punch or anything that will work to drive out the small pin holding the striking arm(metal peice with hole to put shifter) from the striking rod.
*look in the bellhousing, remove the front cover covering the gearbox components.
*remove both snap rings inside there.
*pull apart!
not too difficult but yes alot of work, but if you have a CA motor and no CA tranny then it is probably your best option, getting a good CA rwd tranny in US will be tough. This and pilot bushings are the main reason i shouldve gone with 5 spd CA over an automatic, but its done, so i dont care
