Well I bought a hybrid intercooler kit for a s13 and stared to install it today. I started to mount it with the brackets and nothing lines up:crazyrant . It didnt come with instructions so no diagrams. It came with two L brackets (about 2 inches long) with offset holes, and two 6 inch straight pieces with 2 holes on one side and one in the other. The intercooler has 4 tabs on it, each at the far corner of the core. Does anyone know how to put this damn thing on correctly (I know I sound like an idiot right now but this thing has got me stumped!)
Here is a picture of the bracket (no jokes :nono )

WTF! I put it on using the L brackets on the lower headlight bracket hole (silvia front end) and now it hangs like 1/2 and inch lower then the front bumper cover. You cant see it unless you look on ground level, but it is suppose to do that?

Everything lined up pretty good with the piping except for the TB side of the coldpipe it is alittle tweeked. I was just wondering because if ithe intercooler goes up any higher it will hit the center grill but it still hangs below the stock silvia (s13) front bumper cover.

One more question.....there was a little hose attached to the stock coldpipe and it looks like it runs to the stock boost solinoid then to the wastegate but the hybrid intercooler piping doesnt have a nipple to plug it into, where can I T it off from?

its supposed to be about an inch lower than where the bumper ends, you have to cut the bumper. And yea, the top is really really close to the Silvia head lights, mine are pretty much almost touching.

stock boost solenoid? I threw mine away. I'm not too sure what it does to be honest, can you u acutally control the boost with it? anways, if it's a boost controller, its supposed to be teed off of the line going to the waste gate.

Well everything is hooked up now and I am waiting on my battery relocation kit to drive it. It starts if I hook jumper cables up to the car then the battery (battery is out of the car so the jumpers act as extensions). It runs fine but it seems to be compressor surging or whatever you call it. If I rev it to about 4500 or until to turbo boost (dont have a boost guage) then something makes a CHEW CHEW CHEW sound. It sounds like its comming from the intake filter (apexi) but that could be because that is the only thing thats open and is connected to the turbo. The car also drops revs alittle after revving but the bov is recirculated (stock bov).
Questions:
1. (might be a stupid question but just for reassurance) The bov is recirculated to the stock recirculation nipple BEHIND the MAF sensor but the apexi intake has a nipple INFRONT of the MAS sensor, just behind the filter. Which one should I use?
2. Is the compressor surge sound bad (it doesnt sound like bov, it sounds more like a wastegate shuttering)
3. The wastegate is getting its vaccum readding from the nipple next to where the bov gets its readding on the throttle body. Is this an good location? It seems like at this spot, when the TB is closed, its getting a reading of and negative pressure so the turbo thinks it needs to make more boost and so it wont release the wastegate. If this isnt a good location, where IS a good location.
