Alright I have a 90 Hatch and im putting a alpine deck in it. When I bought the car there was no deck just all the factory harness was cut with no connectors. So when I go to connect my deck, it says use a black with red stripe for power and there are 2 of those. Then it says use a blue wire for something and there are 3 all blue wires!
What do I do. I dont have any wiring harness or engine in my car. So I cant test them. I would really like to get this done though.
Thanks
Jay

Yea, I know. It seems everyone I see is like that.

Mine doesnt have the connector or anything though! It has all been cut. Just straight wires.
yea, that's how mine was. just use the link i posted and the instructions that came w/ your headunit and match up wires

Well which blue wire do I use or black with red stripped wire? As I said there are 3 blue wires with no stripes and 2 black wires with red stripes. There may be other similar wires but I just walked away after that.

yea, i was bothered by that too but if you look at it again it becomes very obvious. looking at the diagram you see that the blue wires have different functions (12v ignition, right rear speaker, power antenna?) the speaker wires all go in pairs so it'll be next to the corresponding speaker - so you can confirm that one isn't the 12v ignition. i think the other blue might be for a power antenna which i didn't have. the 12v ignition blue should be near the black ground. for the red and black i forgot how that worked. but it did. i dunno, it took me about 15 minutes to solder them all up and luckily it worked on the first try

lol, I wish mine was just cut. When I got it the previous owner had wired in a stock honda radio with some weird other shit ... lol. It was like quadruple wrapped in electrical tape as far back as I could see. That was a hell of a sticky mess :(

Heh, I hate that shit.

The tape player in my S14 used butt connectors and a harness adapter. Thank god, that made the free CD player install easier, and I just reused the adapter. The adapter even had a fuse box/capacitor on both the power wires.

I already went to Wal Mart and bought one of those. You guys dont seem to see what I mean. Where my Radio is there is one loom full of wires. There is no connectors, they arent seperated, ect. There is 3 blue ones, 2 black/red, ect. I dont have any connectors to plug into.

exactly, and apparently you don't understand what i tried to explain to you. look at the wiring diagram i linked. it gives you a wire color and a function. sure there are some duplicate colors...figure it out. this is pretty basic stuff

Its safer though, keep in mind todays high perf decks pull a lot more current than the factory system - unless you use external amps for everything youll be putting some stress on the factory wiring. I always run a seperate main power line with inline fuses direct from the battery to the deck and just use the factory loom for the ACC power switch, power ant and lights dimmer (if the deck has one).
