Its much more simple to just see how many connectors there are on the distributor, not the pin count. If it has one connector, its S13. If it has 2, it has an internal coil and its S14.

Either way, its much easier to just swap over the S13 intake manifold and distributor onto the S14 block and head.
 
Easiest way i can think of is sticking you finger behind the valve cover(if its in the car if its out the car then jsut simply look and see.). There no bolt in the center of the early models, but the newer ones have one right in the center aligned with the 2 long ones at the top. This is from my experience, so im not sure it this is always true, can somone confirm.
