I dont think there is really a best model to put it in, s13 or s14 but 89-90 i think are the hardest to get the swap done because of stuff that i dont exactly know,
From what i hear the swap is some what difficult judging from your question I would tell you to have sombody else do it there is alot to it and if you dont know what your doing it wont be easy at all,

12.5 daily driven Im guessing is possible but you'd be better of buying a shit civic for 500 and storing the 240
for the SR20 alone expect near 4 grand installed, then add in maitence, anything that could possibly be wrong with the motor or car, then the parts I donno how much hp it would take to get 12's, stock sr20 can run low 14's , so do the math because i cant
I would suggest waiting on the swap until you are completly sure what it is you want to do, there are plenty of other motors out there then the SR, and the KA24DE isnt a bad motor either and for drag racing it does have .4 more liters, No replacment for displacment lol hope that helps a little
