I am a new one to the 240sx world and have a few questions about the cars before i buy one.... What model is the best to put the ka20det swap in? How hard is the swap to do? Is it possible to make a 12.5 daily driven 240sx and how much money would it take to do this? Is the car ran off of a MAF or Map setup? Any input or direction i should take...?

I dont think there is really a best model to put it in, s13 or s14 but 89-90 i think are the hardest to get the swap done because of stuff that i dont exactly know,
From what i hear the swap is some what difficult judging from your question I would tell you to have sombody else do it there is alot to it and if you dont know what your doing it wont be easy at all,

the car is run off of a MAF,

12.5 daily driven Im guessing is possible but you'd be better of buying a shit civic for 500 and storing the 240

for the SR20 alone expect near 4 grand installed, then add in maitence, anything that could possibly be wrong with the motor or car, then the parts I donno how much hp it would take to get 12's, stock sr20 can run low 14's , so do the math because i cant :)

I would suggest waiting on the swap until you are completly sure what it is you want to do, there are plenty of other motors out there then the SR, and the KA24DE isnt a bad motor either and for drag racing it does have .4 more liters, No replacment for displacment lol hope that helps a little

Sure does... i would be doing the swap myself... i just got done working and swapping engiens on my 94 RT TT that went 13.7s (slow) stock..... did that fairly quickly and easily... i also have a 12.8 srt-4 daily driven, nothing to boast about just not really too worried about the daily driven i have about 8 grand to buy one and start swapping it ect... im trying to get rid of my 20 message limit thing and was just trying to find out what seems to be the best/cheapest/most efficient way to go... i want power and a nice clean car also has to be reliable...

the only thing u have to worry about on the 89-90 is..

the Powert Steering lines, you need the 91+ lines, or customize the 89-90's

and then you have the VSS, and Cluster..
you will need a DOHC (91-94) gauge cluster

other then those 2 things, the swap is stright forward, like hte 91+

you also forgot about the AC. if you get an SR and you have a single cam 89-90 the ac from the motor wont hook up and you will need to get a SR AC and customize the piping or create a custom mounting for the single cam AC. the parts arent that hard to find just search ebay or salvage yards for the cluster and i am pretty sure you can buy the other stuff from nissian dealerships not sure so someone correct me if i am wrong.

if you can have a 12.5 daily driven CB7, then you can have a 240 that can do that as well..
