I have a wrecked SC300 1996 5-speed and a 2001 lexus IS300.I got both really cheap because of minor accidents. I am of fixing up both of the cars. Should i sell the IS300 and get the 2jz-gte for the SC300 and build the engine up , or keep the IS300 and just sell the SC300. I need peoples opinions on this.

well since you say the sc300 is wrecked id sell it and get mods for the IS300. But if you prefer the SC300 then sell the IS i guess. It depends on how much you can get for the IS300. Since the IS wouldnt need a engine swap it might be easier to take care of. And i like the look and there are turbo kits for it. Is the IS a manual? If it is then keep that. I like the IS a lot but nothing beats a sexy SC. It all depends what you want, an extremely fast car or a reliable quick car.

They are both kind of wrecked. The IS was hit in the front previous to the damage it has now and its has wrinkles on the roof from the first accident. The SC is a 5-speed and from what i hear that is rare to have, and the SC just needs a bumper n stuff. Fixing these is not a problem but just knowing who owned them and how many times theyve been beaten on would change my mind. I wouldnt mind have a total sleeper supra/SC300. I think that would be sick, but i sometimes have to drive more than 2 people in my car so a 4 door would be nice. THIS IS THE HARDEST DECISION OF MY LIFE.

I would sell the IS. The SC has an fairly big back seat doesnt it? It will be cheaper to have the SC modified because with the money you get from selling the IS, you can have enough for a engine swap and supporting mods for 400hp and some wheels and suspension.

...or enough money to do the 2jz swap. Everyone thinks just because Ueno has one in his sc, and that the swap has been done, it's an easy swap. There are a lot less people that attempt the 2jz into a sc than there are people who attempt a rb26 into a 240. I recommend buying the $200 manual that was put out by Phil Auldridge. With that manual the swap will go from impossible to cake. I say you do a 1jz from a soarer though.

Aren't all the SC300 standard and SC400's automatic.

id pick which ever has the least amount of damage and one that isnt damaged from the frame, then start from there..

Ive decided to sell th IS and build up the SC. I just dont know which engine to get.1jzgte or the 2jzgte they are the same except that one is 2.5 litre and 3.0 litre. Does anybody know where i cant buy one of these engines? besides ebay. Also how much hp can i get out the 1jzgte

wow the is was hit hard enough to wrinkle the roof? crazy. if that wasnt the case i would have sold the sc. about your motor though. i have a local supplier here that has tons of 1jz's so ill give him a call and get you a price if you want. its probably going to be pricey to ship though but the motors are very fair
