ok what are all these different code names and such? Which names apply to what years of what model car? What does each one look like? Specifically the uh, versions that are similar to the '89-'94 240sx here in the US.

I've been trying to read up on all the threads on this jdm conversion forum but I'm having hella problems keeping it all separate...

The S14 model names are as followed:
'95-96= Zenki
'97-98= Kouki

I'm not sure what the model names for the S13's are. Sorry.

Moderation note: Moving to General Tech

(for the U.S. models 240sx)
89-90 would be zenki
91-94 would be kouki
(for the U.S. models 240sx)
95-96 would be zenki
97-98 would be kouki
(for the Japan model 180sx)
89-90 would be zenki
91-95 would be chuki
96-98 would be kouki
(for the Japan model s13 silvia)
89-90 would be zenki
91-93 would be kouki
(for the Japan model s14)
94-96 would be zenki
97-98 would be kouki

*** i THINK this is how it goes but i'm NOT sure***

type x would be in the 180sx catagory for the years 1996 and up.
i believe the type x is a certain type of model sort of how in america we have honda civic cx,dx,ex,si.
*once again DO NOT quote me on this stuff. i am not 100% sure*

our 1989-1993 240sx hatchbacks are basically the same, exterior wise, as Japan's 180sx.
our 1989-1994 240sx coupes are basically the same as the Japan S13 silvias except they have a different front end. Japan got fixed headlights while U.S. got flip-up headlights.

Don't worry about it. At least you knew it was JDM. Some people don't even know that.
