I autox quite a bit and sr20goofus road races his s13...i've seen an s14 road race down at summit point. I think they do a great job thanks to their amazing handling and relatively light weight, you just have to tune the car for grip driving. Also, invest in bigass wheels and tires. I am getting walked on in autox by v8 guys in camaros/mustangs/vettes cause they all run slicks and i have crappy sidewall flexin street tires...

Watch the tranny.. that's the weakest point on them when you get into road course stuff.

for auto X, all you need are some sticky tires. don't even need to be big- stick with stock rims and buy the best tires you can afford.. you'll see an amazing difference.

^ yea...no they arent, theres like maybe 3 or 4 at our autox's....but they do make good grip cars with good tires....

they are good `for grip racing, ive seen 3 road race S14's in the ITS or ITA (not sure which class) att VIR and summit point. I have seen only 3-4 S13 mostly coups in teh road race seen, all in ITS or ITA again. I have thuroughly enjoyed my S13 coupe on the track several times. Tranny's are not the weakest point, if they are in good shape, and if you can shift without grinding gears, they are only waek if you go over like 400whpish. I have been through 2 trannies, going on to a third because they all have high miles, its the only problem, its cheaper to get a used one than get one rebuilt.

Overall, do roadracing its fun:).....um yeah

i was the only 240 at the last autox which was a pretty big turnout, miatas will forever be the majority at an auto x
:werd Guess I'm a statistic then... :D

the only thing you can do to prevent doing horribly is get real sticky tires like said above a lot. tires are the main hold back on a 240. spend the money and get hoosiers, victoracers, or ra-1's. and unless your running sts or stock dont race on azenis. too slippery when hot.

i had alot of success with azenis on tracks about 4 weekends on one set before they were heat cycled too many times. Now i have a set of Hoosier S04's 225's on 16x8 RX-7 wheels for this year, ill findout how well they really are in June when i go back to VIR, it will prolly be about time for a cage and seats fater that event since ill have alot fo traction and no way to hold myself down.

Hopefully, this won't happen to you, but those rims & race tires have a tough time playing nice together. A local guy cracked two different sets of them. He was fortunate to find the cracks before they broke. Be sure to check the back side of each rim between each of your sessions.
