i'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was done very, very quickly.

the tall guy did a fast step to try to fake out the short guy. short guy read it and countered instantly. friggen sweet.

oh yeah, and head shots are 2 points.

true true - it was very quickly and masterfully done (the kick) But if he fought against you or me, that kick wouldnt land. Ether we would move to the side and in, to his back side while turning, or we'd step back so he hit nothing but air and move in when he'd be getting his footing again.

still. good kick - although I still consider that type of move as a finishing move. Then again I never would have my back turned in a fight.

still - friggen sweet

with an experienced fighter the 1st move usually is the finishing move,, in a real world scenario that is, which traditional martial arts is usually not very effective anyway.
um.....

actually with experienced fighters the finishing move is like the: E.G. 7th-8th move ect. that is because if you are fighting someone good your not going to land the first blow. So, you need to use techniques and exp./smarts to put them into a bad position, then land the blow.

and Traditional martial arts are VERY effective if you know what you are doing and know when to use certain moves at the right time.

Yes if all fights were choriographed then those fancy hurricane kicks would land every time, but unfortunatly real fighting is very unpredictable,,,,,,and quick.

out of my 100-200 if not more fights in and out of the ring in my day none envolved any martial arts,,,that were effective on either part. when it comes down to it brawling ends up most of the time as just that.

I never would have my back turned in a fight.
although that kind of kick shouldn't be used

what Ive been saying this whole thread is that kick shouldn't be used really in a real fight. with very very very few exceptions. because:

if u miss your fucked.
thats why I said this:

if you know what you are doing and know when to use certain moves at the right time.
Martials is very effective and it works - thats why it was invented in the first place, to give people an edge. Thats the same reason why people with skillz make it to the NBA and people who are just big and strong dont.

exp/skill > strenth/size > average joe

For instance. A powerful/fast punch comes from proper technique, and gives you balance.

^ this is an aspect of martial arts.
Boxing also teaches this - and I consider boxing to be a martial art.

boxing is indeed a martial art.

and i'll agree that that jump-nada-bang isnt very handy in a street fight situation, but it works and its deadly.

i dunno about you, but i'd be pretty intimidated by someone who had a few black belts in various martial arts.

once again the Dude makes a good point.

funny boxing storie below.... dont read it it has nothing to do with the topic.

Me and a buddy I train with were out at this crummy festival type deal they have every year in a nearby town called Elizabethton. and Elizabethton is riddled with dumb ass ********. So anyway long story short this group of guys are seriously following us around, I mean every step we take which is no big deal until they start throwing shit at us and talking shit. So my buddy goes up to them and politely asks "whats your fucking problem there pal?" Guy talks some shit and they act all hard core like ******** do,, keep in mind me and my buddy both are roughly 5'9 hes around 160 im around 180-85 lbs so obviously we are a bunch of puny little pussies, right? Anyway my buddy says to the one doing all the shit talking something along the lines of hey man lets be adults here we'll go our way you go yours and its over.. Well Mr. ******* obviously had to prove he was a badass so he makes a few childish threats and well Scott (my friend) says ok pal we'll settle it your way. Theres a covered bridge at this festival and like I said its hick town USA were kinda out of the way a little bit from the main shit and weve got a little huddle around us so no one of any real importance can see us to stop us or them rather. So ******* guy is standing there looking all cool with his shades on, slowly takes his glasses off and his shirt and tosses them off to one of his cronies. Scott says you ready? Guy says Less Go! Scott then steps in 1 left jab and 1 right hook and guess what,,,,,, its over, dude is flat on his back and down for the count after not even 5 seconds. His so called friends did nothing except stand there in awe for a moment before they started laughing at his ass. the huddle of people parted and we then got the fuck out of dodge for a number of reasons the main being fear of getting busted. Anywho just one of the many pointless stories no one cares about.

Ok anyone that has watches UFC, Pride, K1, ect... knows that this type of "asian ballet" does not work in real life.

The first 5 or so UFCs had all types of these "striking martial arts": taekwondo, karate, kung fu, and so on, which were dealt w/ in short order by brazilian jiu jitsu (a grappling martial art for those who don't know) and kickboxing fighters. It really was sad.

I personally have experience with multiple tae kwon do tough guys, all of which can not hold their own in a real street fight. In highschool (5+ years ago) I had a friend that was ranked #1 in tae kwon do in Illinois, and I could take him out very quickly. I am an exception to most people, seeing as I've been in countless fights in and out of the ring, but any good wrestler could take out a tae kwon do blackbelt. Then again I took wrestling for 5 years in school, and train for MMA/NHB events regularly.

And I've got lots of funny fight stories if anyone wants to hear em.:rotflmao
