I'll be honist, I havn't read the whole thread... But any way's, as far as my two bits...
I HATE ff's. But the second car I learned to drive (in drivers ed) was a ff automatic Ford something or ether (learnd to drive a truck before that in horid condtitions so that was no big deal), and my first car was a manual 1993 Toyota Tercel (4spd). Fun lil' gutliss car that was. I spent at least an hour a day e-braking and burning out in durt or ebraking around corners of gravel roads... Never ONCE got into ANY acsedents when speding around thoughs cornes going around those corners way to fast. I have to admit though a ff was a GREATE manual car for me to learn on though, sience my drive way was a gracle road on the side of a moutan basicly. This aloud me to use the e-brake to keep from sliding back while i tried to figure out just how to work the clutch peddle... Never used it but it was there, not useing it worked out for the best my curent car is a rear mounted rwd... Wich I bringes me to my curent point... I have to admit while ff may be more forgiving, i'd MUCH rather risk loosing conroll in a rwd care because (wich i'v done about 8 times in my '83 mr2 in a controlled enviornment evory time but once when i took a corner a lil to fast... Fun as hell.) I find counterstearing much eazier to use to bring the car back under controler and get it going were i want... But this might be do to spending every chanse i got in my Tercel (when I had it) sliding around. ^.^
Thinking back on it, I did a LOT of stupid things in that car. Like powersliding around semi-truck trailers as if they formed a track, sliding around dirt road's curves acting like i was in a rally, and sliding around almost evory corner aound the lil' town i used to live when it rained. I only lost controll once on a dirt road, perpisly as a test when no one was around. I locked the eabraike and slamed on the funt brake at about 70 mhp... Scarry, and yet fun, as hell. About shit my paints but maneged to pull a 360 and continue down road starting at about 20mph... o.o'
In my opinion a 240 wouldn't make a bad choise for a first car. There not that expenve, quite robust, dont have to much power stock and yet enough for some fun. Hell they evin look **** sexy! Proto will evin install a new single kam KA into a 240 for $800. Just as long as your to stupid and slowly push your self towards you limits and only in controlled enviornments; you should be fine.
I'm 17, 18 in about a month. I'm probly going to get a s13 240sx in a week, mabie two and possibly with a sr20... It will be my 4th car and 5th vehickle sience iv had my mr2 for a fiew months, though only driven it for about a week. I'v had my license sence two days before my 15th birthday. So take my story and opinions or not...
P.S.
No car is as much fun as a crotch-rocket, my 1100cc 1993 Suzuki Katana has SMOKED a crap load of brad new corvets, spyders, 350's, pimped out lowrides, etc... 0-60 in less then 4 seconds is hella fun... Though rahter unafordable thanks to 3.44 a gollon down here... :\
Sorry for waisting yall's time and as always plz forgive the spelling and gramore. Cheers.
